The Engineering Leader is responsible for leading the Design Engineering organization across the company and ensuring consistent, high-quality, and profitable project delivery. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering Operations, this role oversees Engineering Managers and Design Engineering teams, driving accountability, operational efficiency, and technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

A core focus of this position is ensuring Design and Project Engineers are positioned to perform their highest-value work-developing client relationships, shaping execution strategies, and ensuring system accuracy and expected functionality. • Maintain visibility into presales pipeline and active project lifecycle status, comparing as-sold versus as-delivered labor, identifying value-engineering opportunities, and supporting financial performance improvement.
  
  
• Collaborate with Field and Fabrication Services and Project Management leadership to align engineering capacity with project demand, participating in resource planning and ensuring engineering support meets business needs.
  
  
• Establish, enforce, and audit engineering standards and delivery processes that support consistent, high-quality outcomes, reducing variability and improving first-time quality across projects.
  
  
• Serve as the senior escalation point for engineering-related issues impacting project delivery or client satisfaction, intervening when projects are off track and guiding recovery plans with responsible managers.
  
  
• Provide leadership input on hiring, succession planning, and organizational design for Engineering Manager roles, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and cultural expectations.
  
  
• Track, analyze, and act on key engineering performance metrics, including utilization, margin contribution, rework rates, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  
  

Required Skills and Experience

• Evaluate, recommend, and integrate new technologies such as Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) to improve network agility and efficiency.
• Design and implement robust network security solutions, including the configuration of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security fabric components.
• Manage network segmentation and isolation strategies to protect sensitive data and critical systems, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Design and manage network load-balancing solutions to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and efficient traffic distribution across the network.
• Oversee the implementation of routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) to ensure network stability, performance, and scalability across multi-site and global environments.
• Ensure the design of secure interconnectivity between on-premise infrastructure, cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure), and remote access points.
• Develop comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, topologies, and implementation plans, and provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for complex network issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, cloud engineering, and application development, to align network architecture with business goals and security requirements.
• Stay current on emerging networking and security trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Required skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a network architect role designing enterprise-level networks.
• Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with routing and switching protocols and configuration (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
• Extensive experience with network security technologies, including firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Check Point), IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
• Proven experience in architecting and implementing secure solutions for on-premise and cloud (IaaS/PaaS) environments.
• Strong knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) principles and practical experience with SDN technologies.
• Expertise in designing and managing load-balancing systems for high-traffic applications.
• Experience with network modeling, capacity planning, and performance analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate) are highly desirable.

Wire Harness Design Engineer

Location: Centennial, Colorado and Long Beach, CA

Rate: $40/hour to $75/hour; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creates 3D harness routes considering bend radius, separation, and maintainability and manage technical trade studies.
• Generate electrical interconnect diagrams and schematics by defining point-to-point connections for power, signals, and data links; understands grounding and shielding principles.
• Interface and coordinate between various team members including engineering, program management, production and quality Create 3D models of harness designs using SolidWorks software.
• Analyze harnesses with applicable quality and reliability standards.
• Develop test equipment for IR/DWV testing.
• Design and integrate harness routing within the spacecraft and test equipment.
• Support production and quality assurance to clear obstacles and ensure build meets design intent.
• Develop BOM’s and work within ERP system for production coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or related engineering experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience with harnessing design and routing.
• Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX or similar 3D CAD software..
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as it relates to harness design (e.g., use of tools such as Cameo).
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with little input on requirements or management oversight.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to travel 20% of the time.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with SolidWorks Electrical and Routing.
• Experience implementing designs compliant with IPC/WHMA-A-620A or NASA-STD-8739.4.
