Millennium is hiring a Fire Protection Engineer to work full time on site in McLean, VA. ALL candidates MUST have an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly to qualify for consideration.
Seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support one of our Intelligence Community customers to coordinate fire protection requirements for various projects, bring a SME level component to answer RFIs, perform inspections as necessary and communicate effectively to senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Identify potential fire hazard(s). Takes action or makes recommendations to eliminate hazards.
- Monitor, identify, and help resolve ODNI fire protection and life safety facilities issues and emergency situations.
- Advise on the purchase, modification, installation, maintenance and operation of fire protection systems
- Ensure fire protection features and systems are in operational condition; reviews testing, maintenance and inspection reports and identifies follow up actions needed.
- Develop scopes of work, criteria and provide expertise for fire protection system design and construction, reviewing designs and submittals and performing acceptance testing.
- Manage new construction and renovation projects to validate compliance with project designs and specifications and applicable codes and standards, document and convey deficiencies for correction.
- Investigates fire alarms, supervisory alarms and troubles to determine cause and provide oversight for resolution. Prepares reports as required.
- Investigates fires, coordinating with ODNI AHJ and responding fire department on fire investigation to determine cause of origin. Write fire incident reports and maintains records.
- Actively participates in fire drills.
Qualifications:
- Must have an active TS/SCI with a Polygraph to qualify for consideration
- Bachelor's Degree plus 10 years of experience
- Registered fire protection engineer, preferably licensed in Maryland or Virginia
- Previous experience in the construction of fire suppression and fire alarm systems
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, including the demonstrated ability to interpret complex information from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of design, construction, inspection, testing and operation of fire detection and fire suppression apparatus, appliances, devices and systems.

This position is onsite at a major Federal building located in Arlington, VA, but you must be able to travel to client sites up to 20% of the time.

Key Responsibilities: · Execute commissioning of building automation systems (BAS), energy management and facilities management services for new and existing buildings on multiple concurrent projects.
· Understand, analyze and interpret RFPs, design and construction documents, standards, codes, scopes, and project deliverables.
· Prepare commissioning plans, specifications, checklists, functional performance tests, and reports.
· Conduct design reviews, submittal reviews, reviews and facilitation of training plans, and O&M manual reviews.
· Conduct site observations and witnessing functional performance testing.
· Solve coordination issues impacting equipment and systems startup and testing activities.
· Ensure conformance with the project requirements, the commissioning plan and the contract documents.
· Review technical reports for completeness and accuracy, e.g.
start ‐ up reports, checkout sheets, and test reports.
· Facilitate transition of systems to operations and the implementation of maintenance programs.
· Develop, build, and maintain effective relationships with internal staff and clients.
· Prepare project estimates, schedules, and work plans.
· Conduct project reviews and prepare status reports/presentations for the company and/or client.
· Conduct quality assurance on project deliverables and project activities.
· Support preparation of invoices and supporting materials.
Minimum Qualifications: · Must have an Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree, and at least 5 years of direct experience in facilities Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC Mechanical systems.
· Experience in the integration of mechanical systems with electrical, fire protection, and fire alarms is required.
· Must possess an in-depth knowledge of LEED and industry standards and practices e.g.
ASHRAE, BCA, ACG, GSA.
· Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, PowerPoint).
· Experience in using scheduling software is required.
· Requires a Valid State Issued Driver's License and the ability to travel to various work sites.
Citizenship/Clearance Requirements: · Must be a U.S.
Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret clearance due to our customer requirements and the nature of the work that we do.
Preferred Qualifications: · An Active Secret or higher Security Clearance.

- $120,000 Physical Considerations: · Must be able to walk construction sites with uneven surfaces, carry up to 25 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work both indoors and outdoors in severe weather conditions, in confined spaces, and in dust-generating environments.
· Must be able to maintain spatial awareness and comply with safety standards while working near mechanical and electrical building equipment and systems.
· Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
