The Role

As an Executive Underwriter, you'll be responsible for the management and growth of an assigned book of business and the acquisition of new business. You’ll evaluate the acceptability of individual risks and determine terms, conditions, and pricing to achieve profit objectives. You will work with agents/brokers to develop productive and profitable relationships and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines. You will also serve in an informal leadership role by guiding less experienced underwriters.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business by reviewing applications, requesting additional information if necessary, and accepting or rejecting risks in conformance with guidelines
• Underwrite within the authority set by the Commercial Lines Vice President and within the confines of reinsurance treaties; correspond with agencies to collect additional information
• Underwrite renewal business by reviewing insured files, agency experience, loss frequency, loss control surveys, motor vehicle reports, and prior carrier loss experience
• Assist in the development of new products, pricing, or coverages as needed
• Develop productive and profitable relationships with agents/brokers
• Maintain an established loss ratio
• Meet established production goals and deliver timely service
• Serve as staff liaison for assigned lines, disseminating line updates and developing staff
• Travel within the assigned territory to facilitate customer development and relationship building through agency visits and prospect calls
• Participate in continuing education through industry and company-sponsored courses
• Assist in the training of other personnel as directed

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial lines Underwriting and/or marketing experience
• Demonstrated ability to develop a profitable commercial lines book of business
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, agents, and vendors.

This position offers a variety of work in employment matters including working on responsive statements, research, witness interviews, litigation, drafting statements of position, responding to employee related subpoenas, among others. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicating with counsel regarding matters of significance and determines necessary information to be obtained.
• Communicating with outside counsel representing the Company to manage case activities.
• Prepare and audit EEOC and state agency/local agency responsive statements and files.
• Opening the file.
• Conducting factual and legal research using electronic research databases and secondary resources.
• Managing assignment of cases and claims served on the Company and its operating subsidiaries through its registered agent and in other manners.
• Gathering and organizing relevant documents and assisting with witness interviews.
• Advising Company locations throughout the country on required documents and information pertinent to cases and claims asserted against the Company.
• Ensuring departments and personnel retrieve records and respond to subpoenas and other discovery requests.
• Preparing and managing legal holds.
• Managing case data and financial information into Company databases.
• Preparation, filing, and managing insurance claims.
• Interacting with the Company's finance department on case and claim accruals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The Office of Development is seeking a Senior Writer, Philanthropic Narratives, who can balance creativity with analytical thinking to advance our messaging strategy—ensuring our stories clearly communicate organizational priorities and celebrate the impact of philanthropic support.

Reporting to the Manager of Donor Relations, the Senior Writer serves as a strategic storytelling partner, shaping and elevating the organization’s most critical philanthropic narratives. This role leads the development of comprehensive campaign cases for support, compelling major and principal gift proposals, donor monographs, and impactful long-form stewardship communications—ensuring every piece clearly articulates vision, urgency, and measurable impact.

As a trusted writer and advisor to senior leadership and campaign stakeholders, this position leads narrative development from concept through final delivery—ensuring clarity, credibility, alignment, and inspiration across high-stakes donor materials.

Responsibilities

• Leads the development of enterprise-level philanthropic narratives that articulate urgency, impact, and vision. Serve as a trusted writing partner to senior leadership, campaign volunteers, and other key stakeholders.
• Create and steward strong thematic frameworks across campaigns, proposals, and stewardship publications. Support both campaign-driven and stewardship-focused storytelling across the donor lifecycle.
• Translate complex organizational priorities, program strategies, and financial needs into clear, persuasive donor-facing narratives. Apply editorial judgment to synthesize inputs into disciplined, donor-centric storytelling, maintaining consistency of voice, tone, and narrative direction across high-visibility materials.
• Write and manage the development of major gift proposals, campaign monographs, and long-form philanthropic communications. Guide materials through multiple review cycles, managing feedback and revisions. Conduct interviews with executives, subject-matter experts, and cross-functional partners to capture institutional perspective and nuance.
• Collaborate closely with partners across the National Office, including but not limited to development, finance, program, and marketing, to align narratives with fundraising strategy, brand standards, and audience expectations.
• Ensure all materials align with organizational brand standards and fundraising best practices. Adapt narratives as priorities evolve while preserving coherence, focus, and editorial excellence.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional writing experience, with a strong portfolio of long-form, audience-specific, donor-facing, and/or executive-level content; experience in philanthropy, non-profit fundraising, higher education, healthcare, and/or other mission-driven organizations.
• Must pass a criminal history background check.

Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.

Preference

Experience serving as an in-house writer within a nonprofit, foundation, or other mission-driven organization, with direct exposure to fundraising or development operations.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field is preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years strongly preferred)
• Proven experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and preparation of construction-ready design packages
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar utility design platforms is strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of power distribution construction practices, with the ability to learn utility-specific proprietary systems efficiently
• Must hold a valid driver’s license, maintain active auto insurance, and pass all required background, drug, and MVR screenings
• Authorization to work in the United States is required
• Willingness to travel occasionally, including minimal overnight travel when project needs require
• Ability to work a standard Monday–Friday schedule aligned to Eastern Time, with Central/Mountain/Pacific adjustments as appropriate

• Ability to work for extended periods using a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone
• Ability to prepare and analyze data, review detailed information, and work with design tools requiring close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering

Title: Machine Learning Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Responsibilities:

• Productize and optimize models from Research into reliable, performant, and cost-efficient services with clear SLOs (latency, availability, cost).
• Scale training across nodes/GPUs (DDP/FSDP/ZeRO, pipeline/tensor parallelism) and own throughput/time-to-train using profiling and optimization.
• Implement model-efficiency techniques (quantization, distillation, pruning, KV-cache, Flash Attention) for training and inference without materially degrading quality.
• Build and maintain model-serving systems (vLLM/Triton/TGI/ONNX/TensorRT/AITemplate) with batching, streaming, caching, and memory management.
• Integrate with vector/feature stores and data pipelines (FAISS/Milvus/Pinecone/pgvector; Parquet/Delta) as needed for production.
• Define and track performance and cost KPIs; run continuous improvement loops and capacity planning.
• Partner with ML Ops on CI/CD, telemetry/observability, model registries; partner with Scientists on reproducible handoffs and evaluations.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelors in computer science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s preferred (or equivalent industry experience).
• Strong systems/ML engineering with exposure to distributed training and inference optimization.

Industry Experience:

• 3–5 years in ML/AI engineering roles owning training and/or serving in production at scale.
• Demonstrated success delivering high-throughput, low-latency ML services with reliability and cost improvements.
• Experience collaborating across Research, Platform/Infra, Data, and Product functions.

Technical Skills:

• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks: PyTorch (primary), TensorFlow.
• Exposure to large model training techniques (DDP, FSDP, ZeRO, pipeline/tensor parallelism); distributed training experience a plus
