Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Burn Unit Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll play a vital role in the healing journey of patients with a variety of burn injuries. With stays ranging from days to weeks, you’ll build meaningful relationships and witness powerful healing journeys. Partnering with a skilled team that’s deeply committed to this unique population, you’ll restore comfort and healing - caring for patients like family and improving lives every day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing patient condition and environment to recognize changes, manage pain, and ensure safety throughout their care journey
- Performing expert procedures and medication administration – including pain relief and fluid therapy – delivering advanced wound care and dressing changes, monitoring responses and acting swiftly to promote healing and comfort
- Educating and supporting patients and families with compassion and clarity to confidently navigate recovery and make informed decisions
- Collaborating with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to provide seamless, patient-centered care tailored to each individual’s needs

- Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
- Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
- Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
- Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
- Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
- Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current ACLS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- **Colleagues participating in a transition to practice program must have all required certifications at the completion of their program and transition to independent practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Two to four years ICU acute care nursing experience is strongly desirable.

Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities, ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities, and ability to plan and provide for delivery of nursing services. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates the ability to have direct patient care and charge nurse responsibilities. Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people and to maintain constructive relationships in all interactions. Adheres to all departmental safety initiatives. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written manners. Participates in counseling and guidance of personnel. Ability to assume leadership role with the health team in planning and delivery of patient care.
1. Demonstrated competence with patient care information systems.
2. Strong planning, analytical and written skills.
3. Ability to utilize and coach others in the nursing process.
4. Ability to utilize database, spreadsheet, word processing to conduct analysis of statistical reports.

What you will do in this role:
- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
