As a diesel technician / mechanic at Southern Haulers, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engine trucks, and various types of trailers. Your role is crucial in keeping our fleet in top condition, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the safe and reliable service to our customers.

Diesel Technician Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: Monday-Friday 5:30 A.M.-4:00 P.M.
  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 4:00 P.M.-2:30 A.M.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on trucks & trailers.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and ensure vehicle safety.
  • Troubleshoot and repair air braking systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair emission systems using OEM software.
  • Troubleshoot and repair collision mitigation/roll stability systems using OEM Software.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Ensure that all work complies FMCSA/DOT standards.

Diesel Tech Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, their components, and systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license

Position Overview

The Plant Quality Manager plays a key leadership role within the Quality team and the plant leadership group. This position is responsible for implementing the organization’s Strategic Quality Plan, serving as the Management Representative for the Quality Management System, and ensuring product flow meets company and industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. The Quality Manager provides guidance and direction to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure total quality performance.


Key Responsibilities

Customer & Quality Leadership

  • Act as the primary interface for all customer quality interactions to ensure requirements are clearly understood and met.
  • Lead problem‑resolution activities, including internal and customer issues, ensuring timing commitments are met and proper reporting methods (8D or customer‑specific formats) are used.
  • Manage Customer Scorecard performance; initiate corrective actions when performance does not meet customer expectations.

Department Management

  • Lead all daily operations within the Plant Quality Department.
  • Oversee budgets, resource allocation, and employee performance and development.
  • Oversee Supplier Quality activities and support supplier management.

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Lead implementation and verification of all Quality Management Systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA, CCC, etc.).
  • Lead plant APQP activities and ensure proper execution of Customer and Supplier PPAP requirements.
  • Monitor PPAP documentation for new or modified products and processes.

Auditing & Metrics

  • Oversee and conduct internal quality system audits.
  • Analyze quality metrics, conduct performance reviews, and recommend actions to address gaps.
  • Ensure functional involvement in new product development, launch activities, and production testing.

Process & Documentation Control

  • Approve process‑related quality documents including Control Plans, Standard Work Instructions, and deviations.
  • Validate Quality Lab functions and related product evaluation requirements.
  • Confirm completion of daily production startup verification, including Poka‑Yoke checks.

Containment & Measurement Systems

  • Initiate and authorize containment activities, ensuring proper training, documentation, and gage validation.
  • Verify Measurement System Analysis (MSA) for tools and devices used in production.
  • Has authority to stop production or shipments in cases of non‑conformance, safety issues, or environmental risks.

Professional Development

  • Maintain ongoing commitment to professional development and staying current with quality management best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field.
  • Minimum 7 years of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
  • Six Sigma certification (Green, Black, or Master Black Belt).
  • Certified IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience.
