Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for hardware engineers and PCB designers, providing expert guidance on workflow and tool-related challenges.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional design teams to understand requirements, identify gaps, and translate needs into actionable technical solutions.
• Champion and standardize ECAD best practices, including schematic capture, PCB layout, DFM, data management, and design collaboration processes.
• Partner with IT teams and tool developers to define, design, and implement next-generation ECAD workflows and tooling solutions.
• Drive automation, optimization, and efficiency improvements throughout the entire ECAD design lifecycle.
• Lead the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies into ECAD processes, including design rule checking, component selection, layout optimization, predictive modeling, and data analysis.
• Contribute to the strategic roadmap for ECAD tools and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with current operational needs and future innovation goals.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across hardware development programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in ECAD design, PCB layout, DFM, or related hardware engineering fields.
• Strong expertise with industry-standard ECAD tools such as Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, or Altium Designer.
• Solid understanding of PCB fabrication processes, design constraints, and manufacturability considerations.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and provide structured solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Title: Power and Performance Validation Engineer

Location: Austin, TX - Onsite

Duration: 06 Months (Possible to extension)

Job Description:

We are looking for an engineer with experience in power or performance attainment of features of CPU, GPU, or APUs. This person should thrive in a matrixed environment spanning multiple countries and time zones.

Skills:

• Experience validating power or performance features of CPUs, GPUs, or APUs.

• Familiarity with graphics, core, and gaming-focused workloads.

• Familiarity with the use of data acquisition and thermal equipment.

• Experience analyzing and presenting data using Power BI, Sigma, or similar.

• Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed, and multi-site technical organization.

Education:

Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of related experience; or Masters plus at least 1 years directly related experience (an advanced degree will be considered a plus).

Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.

The Principal Power Engineer works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Work autonomously and take initiatives to manage team priorities
• Provide technical guidance and support to Staff and Sr. engineers
• Design, develop and implement technical solutions for complex projects. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
• Propose innovative solutions for performance, reliability, and features of system or product.
• Global SME with comprehensive knowledge and industry recognition. Provides technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.
• Reviews and interprets customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
• Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop and lead deployment strategies and plans.
• Lead and manage schematic design, Bills of material, power tree, drawings, board layout, and cross-functional design reviews
• Lead power bring-up, debugging, and support for manufacturing assembly, and deployment
• Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)
• Lead relationships with key vendors and partners.
• Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations, and share within team
• Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
• Analyze and create reports and documentation of specifications, design, testing, debugging, and etc.
• May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Considered a Subject Matter Expert in the area of power design, such as single/multi-phase DC/DC converter, point-of-load converter, LDO, MOSFETs, magnetics, hot-swap circuitry of how-swap controller, load switches, current sense circuit and amplifier, and etc
• Experienced in designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage products
• Experienced in high-current, low-voltage power subsystems for CPU, GPU, ASIC, SoC, and FPGA
• Experienced in PCB stack-up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradients
• Familiar with schematic capture and CAD layout tools or equivalent ones
• Proficient with circuit simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, PSPICE, and LTSPICE, or equivalent tools
• Experienced with end-to-end power delivery network design, and simulation using circuit simulation tools, Sigrity PowerDC/SI, ANSYS SIWave or equivalent, and board level correlation
• Knowledge of high-density power modules and Vertical Power Delivery (Knowledge on Integrated Voltage Regulator (IVR) is a plus)
• Experienced with power integrity evaluation
• Experienced with design and troubleshooting of power management interfaces such as PMBus, AVS, SVID and SVI2/3.
• Experienced with defining specifications and validation of power connectors, cable assemblies and fuses
• Familiar with NPI hardware design and deployment cycle
• Experienced with development of test automation for power validation that is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to present to various audiences effectively

The Planet Group is partnered with a growing energy infrastructure organization seeking a Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of high-voltage transmission line and substation projects.

This role is responsible for managing projects from initial concept through construction, testing, and energization, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. The Project Manager will coordinate internal teams, engineering partners, contractors, and stakeholders to successfully deliver complex power infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage transmission and substation capital projects from project conception through commissioning and energization.
• Lead project planning activities including site selection, layout, design coordination, and facility configuration.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure successful project execution.
• Lead the preparation of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) bid packages and participate in contractor selection and negotiations.
• Manage procurement of materials and equipment required for project execution.
• Oversee permitting processes, property acquisition, easements, and crossing agreements required for project development.
• Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks that could impact schedule or budget.
• Review detailed design packages to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Evaluate and negotiate change orders and manage contractor performance.
• Coordinate project outages, construction activities, and commissioning efforts.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience managing high-voltage transmission line or substation projects.
• Experience managing projects involving engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Strong understanding of power transmission and substation design and construction practices.
• Experience managing contractors, consultants, and material suppliers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing projects involving 138 kV, 230 kV, or 345 kV transmission infrastructure.
• Familiarity with industry standards including NESC, NEC, IEEE, AISC, ACI, and OSHA.
• Experience negotiating and managing EPC contracts.
• Background working with utilities, developers, or engineering firms supporting power transmission projects.

• Hybrid work schedule based in Austin, TX.
• Approximately 30% travel to project sites as needed.
