- Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about unit): 18 or older, neuro & medical diagnosis (any neurological disorder or disease, stroke designated unit, any medical or surgical patient needing a higher level of care), Level of care: Intermediate (ICU stepdown)

The Outpatient Infusion Department/Pediatric Unit is committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model; we believe in caring relationships with our patients, families, community, and colleagues to provide exceptional care. Our dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners practice in an eleven bed inpatient unit that is combined with a 24/7 outpatient infusion department. All care is delivered by a highly-trained staff utilizing the most current technology and equipment. The unit is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving- as RNs care for those ten days of age through the entire adulthood span and provide infusion treatments such as blood products, specialty medications, chemotherapy, hydration, antibiotics.

Carle's Audiology department offers diagnostic and rehabilitation services including adult and pediatric audiologic evaluation, vestibular evaluation and treatment, auditory evoked potentials, and hearing aid evaluation and fitting.
Opportunity Details
- Full range audiology practice including patients from birth to geriatrics , with large focus on pediatric patients
- Evaluate and treat balance disorders using videonystagmography evaluations (VNG)
- Perform auditory brainstem response testing
- Communication and meetings with device reps
- Train and precept audiology students
Education/Clinical Experience Requirements:
- Doctorate or Master's degree in Audiology
- Experience with hearing aids, implantable technology/devices, and balance evaluations preferred
- 2 years experience in a medical facility preferred

Overview
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Health Care Technician (HCT) functions as a support to the licensed nursing staff and performs activities related to the personal care and hygiene needs of an assigned patient group. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. Serves as a public relations liaison for the unit.

Responsibilities
Assists with the maintenance of unit supplies to ensure the smooth function of the unit, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts. Collects data on assigned patients as directed by Registered Nurse (RN) and ensures accurate documentation. Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as outlined in the skills checklist including: measurement of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and measuring and recording intake and output. Performs or assists patients with the activities of daily living. Prepares patients for transportation and/or transport. Works closely with nursing to ensure high quality care for the most critical adult and pediatric patients Assists with communication - updating white boards and doing meaningful hourly rounding Floats within the hospital to perform duties as needed Can be utilized as a sitter for patients with that need Assists in setting up any bedside procedure.

Provides a communication link between the hospital and health care provider's office to assure coordination of patient care and maintains communication with health care providers concerning patients experiencing lactation and breastfeeding problems. Demonstrates appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation based on stages of life and developmental status. Educates patients, families and health care team members. Provides education for mothers and family in correct lactation management. Develops and implements ongoing lactation educational program annually on lactation for the healthcare team. Participates in lactation program development and implementation. Works with the appropriate shared governance structure on issues relating to lactation. Participates in development of policies, procedures, algorithms and guidelines specific to lactation practice at site and system levels. Collects data, identifies, monitors and evaluates quality and safety issues related to practice. Maintains phone consultation system for lactation questions and problems. Represents the lactation department at unit/system/community meetings. Evaluates and integrates research findings into lactation practice.
