Automation and Controls Engineer
The Automation and Controls Engineer will design, build, and commission robust manufacturing systems for production of hypersonic-flight components.
Success requires a practical application of engineering principles to design, build, test, and commission process hardware, integrate new technologies into our production line, and integrate process equipment and technologies within our production line. We are seeking a hands-on problem solver with strong expertise in electro-mechanical system design and automation systems, as well as experience working with machinery and production environments.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, customize, and test hardware and control systems for integration into composite manufacturing equipment balancing process requirements, cost and leadtime considerations.
- Partner with mechanical, materials, and manufacturing engineering teams to align on hardware requirements and design solutions.
- Mature manufacturing processes via the implementation of process control systems and procedures to ensure production consistency and reliability.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to define specifications and ensure on-time delivery of equipment for production needs.
- Troubleshoot hardware malfunction issues to minimize downtime and improve operations.
- Provide guidance and implement robust plans for hardware maintenance and calibration to ensure reliable operation of the manufacturing equipment.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or industrial engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing production environment.
- Experience identifying, trouble shooting and rectifying complex manufacturing issues involving multiple production resources in a deadline driven environment.

This is a hands-on, technical role ideal for a mechanically skilled professional with a strong understanding of hydraulic and mechanical systems related to natural gas, diesel engines, and turbine controls.
Key Responsibilities: Install, disassemble, assemble, test, and troubleshoot hydra-mechanical equipment.
Interpret system schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Analyze and optimize performance of mechanical governing and actuation systems.
Maintain shop instruments and follow repair policies in line with manufacturer standards.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers to provide technical expertise and solutions.
Support field installations, calibrations, and on-site troubleshooting as needed.
Qualifications: HS diploma or GED required; trade cert or equivalent experience in mechanical systems, engines, or transmissions preferred.
Strong working knowledge of internal combustion engines, steam and gas turbines.
Basic understanding of engine/turbine controls and power generation systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and use of precision tools and diagnostic instruments.
Must have a valid driver’s license, passport, and TWIC card.
Able to work independently and collaboratively with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Additional Requirements: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work extended hours in a shop environment.

Operations Engineer
As an Operations Engineer, you will be the heartbeat of schedule execution for Castelion's hypersonic weapons development. You will architect and maintain integrated master schedules that span concept design, engineering development, hardware production, flight test, and operational deployment. Working across engineering, manufacturing, and government-program stakeholders, you will keep aggressive timelines on track and ensure that every milestone is grounded in technical reality.
This role demands a strategic thinker who is equally comfortable with hands-on execution and thrives in a dynamic startup environment. This person can bring order to complexity while supporting multiple high-stakes government programs.
Responsibilities
- Integrated Master Scheduling: Build and maintain end-to-end schedules from early design through full-rate production and fielding of hypersonic weapon systems.
- Critical Path Management: Identify dependencies, risks, and recovery options to keep programs aligned with contractual commitments and customer milestones.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with engineering leads, program managers, and operations teams to ensure schedule accuracy and timely updates.
- Data-Driven Insights: Develop tools, dashboards, and reports that provide real-time visibility to leadership and government customers.
- Process Improvement: Gain deep understanding of Castelion's engineering and manufacturing workflows to drive schedule fidelity and continuous improvement.
- Rapid Response: Lead high-tempo reviews, update schedules in response to evolving priorities, and escalate risks before they become blockers.
- Customer Interface: Provide schedule briefings and status updates to U.S. Government stakeholders, supporting formal reviews and contractual reporting
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering, operations management, business, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in project planning, integrated master scheduling, or operations engineering.
- Proficiency with Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Primavera, or comparable scheduling tools.
- Strong grasp of critical-path analysis, risk assessment, and work breakdown structures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with first-of-a-kind engineering projects or defense hardware production.
- Familiarity with hypersonic or missile-system development life cycles.
- Background in government acquisition programs and contractual reporting (e.g., CDRLs, IMS).
- Experience integrating third-party schedules and external supplier data into a master plan.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
