Main Responsibilities

Project Planning and Scheduling:

o  Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, and schedules.

Requirements

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for overall product quality and compliance with ISO 9001 standards. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Management System and leading quality assurance activities throughout the product lifecycle

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Ensure continuous improvement of the QMS through regular audits, reviews, and updates.
• Lead quality assurance activities throughout the product lifecycle, from design to manufacturing and post-production.
• Establish and monitor quality metrics and KPIs to assess product quality and performance.
• Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Implement corrective actions (CAPA) based on root cause analysis.
• Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain personnel to implement product changes for current and next generation products. Maintain documents at various product stages ranging from the creation of part numbers to the release of products for manufacturing.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Review and maintain product manuals and labeling in coordination with Engineering, Sales, and Safety Agencies.
• Conduct training sessions for manufacturing personnel on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
• Act as the customer interface on quality-related issues, providing timely resolutions and maintaining strong relationships.
• Gather customer feedback to drive product improvement and quality improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5+ years of experience in quality engineering or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
• Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or similar quality management certification is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general manufacturing, quality control, and lean principles.
• Skilled in MS Word and Excel.
• Experience with SAP preferred.

SUMMARY: Provide engineering duties as assigned by Plant Engineer and/or Plant Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Providing detail drawings.
• Active in troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and mechanical problems in a manufacturing environment.
• Well versed in PLC and HMI programming.
• Well versed in digital and analog AC/DC drive design, programming and installation.
• Well versed in computer (PC) fundamentals, including communication protocols, Microsoft Operating systems and Microsoft Office software.
• Manage new equipment installations and startups.

Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department in the absence of the Maintenance Manager. Validation

• Write and execute IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols, and manage the associated deviation process.
• Management and leadership of the change control, calibration, and gage R&R processes.
• Provide hands-on support to manufacturing areas as required to assist with problem-solving and long-term changes that lead to product/process improvements related to process failures. Collect and analyze data to make data-driven recommendations/decisions.
• Participate in process failure investigations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of validation requirements, practices, and procedures, and instruct other site members participating in validation studies.
• Support risk analysis activities, including design and process FMEA.
• Facilitate team meetings as needed on in-depth process and product analysis, risk assessments, decision-making, and other evaluations related to the Validation program.
• Assist in internal and 3rd party audits.
• Provide backup for Quality Supervisors and Quality technicians.
• Drive continuous improvement opportunities utilizing lean six sigma and the seven basic quality tools, to benefit the success of APC, including profit improvement plans, long and short-term strategic objectives, helping establish problem-solving teams and methods, and recommending capital projects that improve Safety, Productivity, and Quality.
• Write and improve manuals, standards, and procedures as needed.
• Use of statistical software and techniques for analysis of data, including Process Capability (Cpk, Ppk), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Design of Experiments (DOE)

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $50,000 to $64,700.

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Candidates without full-time Teaching experience will likely have a starting salary of $50,000.

Description:

BASIC PURPOSE:

• Create detailed cost estimates for the creation of customer quotations for injection mold tooling, injection molded products, and value added assemblies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Estimating & Quoting

o Prepare detailed cost estimates for injection molded parts, including:

Tooling (new molds, modifications, transfers)

Piece-part pricing

Secondary operations (assembly, pad printing, ultrasonic welding, etc.)

o Analyze customer RFQs, drawings, CAD models, and specifications

o Develop pricing based on material costs, cycle time, press size, labor, overhead, and margin targets

o Support quick-turn and formal quote requests

• Engineering & Technical Analysis

o Review part designs for manufacturability (DFM)

o Estimate mold complexity, cavitation, hot runner vs. cold runner, and tooling lead times

o Recommend process assumptions, material alternatives, and cost-reduction opportunities

o Collaborate with tooling vendors and internal mold design teams

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• 3+ years of experience in injection molding estimating, process engineering, or manufacturing engineering
• Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and tooling
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating or ERP systems
• Strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred

• Experience estimating multi-cavity, hot runner, or high-volume production tools
• Familiarity with automotive, medical, consumer, or industrial molded products
• Experience working with domestic and offshore tooling suppliers
• Background in mold design, processing, or project management

Our firm has been retained by a 30-year US business that produces critical electronic technology utilized by the semiconductor and automotive industries. Located in Rochester, NY, the company has enjoyed steady growth and is backed by a billion-dollar international organization.

The territory is global, with 70% of customers located in Asia. Travel is about 25%. Compensation ranges from $110-130k, not counting profit-sharing, 401K contribution, paid holidays, and very generous PTO and healthcare benefits.

In this role, you'll wear three "hats":

Key Account Management

• Serve as primary contact for key customers within the assigned product line.

• Build and maintain long-term customer relationships, ensuring high satisfaction and customer retention.

• Understand customer requirements, applications, and future needs; translate these into product and business opportunities.

• Coordinate internal teams (engineering, operations, quality, supply chain) to resolve customer issues and manage complex technical inquiries.

• Lead contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and commercial agreements.

Business Development & Market Analysis

• Identify new market opportunities, applications, and customer segments for the product line.

• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to assess trends, technological shifts, and market drivers.

• Develop business cases and contribute to strategic growth plans.

• Monitor sales performance, revenue growth, and margin development for the product line.

• Support regional and global sales teams with market insights and product expertise.

Product Management

• Define and execute the product line strategy in alignment with customer and market needs.

• Drive product roadmap activities in collaboration with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing.

• Support product lifecycle management: introduction, phase-out, and portfolio optimization.

• Develop customer-facing product materials such as brochures, presentations, and technical guides.

What are we looking for?

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, along with Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.

• 5+ years of experience in product management, key account management, or business development—ideally in a technical/industrial environment.

• Proven track record in managing technical customers or product portfolios.
