The Position

The ideal candidate will have experience in the provision of quality GYN & surgical services utilizing robotics and will share in practice call.

This position will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants providing full-scope of care to women from all-across northern New Mexico. Our modern clinic is just minutes from our award-winning hospital which is equipped with the latest technology, including Da Vinci Xi surgical robots.

You will benefit from a seamless workflow utilizing Epic EMR across all care settings as you diagnosis and provide treatment for a wide range of gynecologic conditions, including:

• Abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids
• Pelvic pain, endometriosis
• Abnormal cervical cytology
• Amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, menorrhagia
• Menopause care and benign gynecologic conditions

Obstetrics Practice Considerations:

While obstetric care is not a required component of this position, candidates interested in providing obstetrical services alongside gynecologic and surgical responsibilities may opt into the following:

• Opportunity to provide clinic-based obstetrical care in addition to standard gyn/surg duties; inclusive of APC collaboration and support.
• Opportunity to provide OB hospital / laborist shifts in L&D -- 24-hour in-house shifts with compensation of $3,600 per shift worked (no RVUs).

Obstetrical care can be combined into one FTE or the laborist shifts can be in addition to the gyn/surg FTE as a true-extra shift earning opportunity.

NOTE : physicians with hospital obstetrical privileges will participate in the emergency OB back-up call rotation regardless of whether they opt to provide 24-hour laborist shifts. It is rare that the emergency backup OB is activated but is an important component to ensuring adequate surgical backup coverage for our labor & delivery program.

The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Surgery is seeking a board certified or board eligible urologic surgeon with experience, interest or expertise in Genitourinary Reconstructive Urology to join the Department of Surgery. This position will be within the Division of Urology. This position is being recruited at an open rank, open track; salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The UNM Division of Urology currently consists of fellowship-trained and specialized urologists within the fields of oncology, pediatrics, robotics, and renal transplantation. Surgeons within the division provide full urologic care to a variety of benign and malignant conditions.

This position would work closely with the residency program. The UNM Division of Urology and Department of Surgery boast a robust infrastructure of services and resources to help achieve academic goals, and leadership opportunities are available.

UNM serves a large, medically complex population and is a consultative resource for the State of New Mexico and the Four Corners region of the Southwest United States. Outpatient surgical services are provided through the UNM Hospital, UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, and the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC), the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. The UNM Health Science Center (HSC) is the largest academic health complex in the state of New Mexico and is the only Level 1 trauma center. Located on the main hospital campus in Alamogordo, the CHRISTUS Cancer Center provides comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology services in a patient'centered environment. The clinic includes 10 treatment beds, two private chemotherapy rooms, and access to advanced technology such as a new linear accelerator, 64'slice CT, and 1.5T MRI. Patients benefit from a multidisciplinary team that includes oncology'certified nurses, a clinical nurse specialist, a nurse navigator, and strong surgical and specialty support across breast surgery, pathology, orthopedics, cardiology, pulmonology, and colorectal surgery.

The practice is 70% oncology and 30% hematology, with all chemotherapy delivered outpatient. Our modern facility includes private exam rooms, procedure and ultrasound suites, an in-house lab, and full access to advanced equipment and hospital services, including labor and delivery rooms with epidural coverage provided by CRNAs.
