Employment Litigation Attorney
Job Description
We have a need in the Chicago area looking for attorneys in the Employment/Business litigation space. Strong litigation experience is required for this role.
In this Role, the attorney will litigate around the following:
- Reviewing employment agreements, severance agreements, management incentive plans, long-term incentive plans, when employees are in the office vs. not, non-competes, non-solicitation, sexual harassment, sexual offense in domestic violence and trauma conformed advocacy, discrimination, retaliation,
Additional Information:
- Defend employers in single-plaintiff and multi-plaintiff lawsuits involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related claims.
- Handle wage-and-hour matters, including claims under federal and state law, collective/class actions, and misclassification disputes.
- Represent employers in administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, state/local fair employment agencies, DOL, OSHA or equivalent) from charge response through conciliation or appeal.
- Draft and respond to pleadings, discovery, and motions; conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and corporate representatives.
- Develop case strategy, evaluate liability and exposure, and provide practical recommendations to clients regarding settlement, mediation, or trial.
- Prepare and argue motions in state and federal courts and, where appropriate, try cases or assist trial teams through verdict and post-trial motions.
- Advise employers on day‑to‑day employment law issues, including hiring, discipline, termination, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage-and-hour compliance, and workplace investigations.
- Draft, review, and revise employment-related documents, including handbooks, policies, employment agreements, separation/severance agreements, restrictive covenants (non-compete, non-solicitation, confidentiality), and arbitration agreements.
- Provide training to managers and HR on topics such as anti-discrimination/harassment, wage-and-hour compliance, performance management, and investigations.
- Monitor legal developments and communicate client alerts or internal updates regarding significant changes in employment laws and regulations.
- Participate in business development activities, including client presentations, seminars, and industry events, as appropriate to level.
