Since 2014, RW Gate Company has designed and manufactured the highest quality water control gates and related equipment used in water control systems. In a short time, we have become a leader in the Water and Wastewater industry. Due to rapid growth, we are looking to fill positions in our manufacturing shop.
This position is responsible for ensuring that our product is manufactured and assembled to meet our customer deadlines. You will assemble component parts into high quality water control gates. You will also work cooperatively with the other members of the shop floor and management team to support other tasks as required.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
Combining sub-assemblies into one complete unit by following all standard operating procedures, ensuring that all quality standards are met.
Attaching sealants and gaskets along frames according to specifications and drawings
Reading technical documents, prints and work instructions, using templates, jigs and fixtures to execute minor part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing
Using hand and power tools to complete assembly
Touching up of products prior to shipment to meet company quality standards
Using grinding wheels and chemical cleaners to prepare materials for assembly
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including cleaning equipment, performing tool and equipment maintenance, and removing debris or obstructions
Utilizing forklifts and pallet jacks to move product as needed
Special projects as assigned by the shop supervisors
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis throughout the shift
Ability to operate a fork truck
Minimum 1 year experience in assembly or fabrication work involving review of drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze 2D CAD drawings
Ability to perform basic shop math and use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers
Ability to use common hand and power tools
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs, basic computer skills
Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or within a team setting

What you'll do:
The Assembly position is responsible for performing a variety of diversified sub and light to heavy duty assembly operations on our switchgear product line. In this role, you will perform some complicated sub-assembly to final assembly operations, which contain a large number of parts and substantial fitting and aligning of components, utilizing bill of materials and prints as necessary - on a repetitive basis.

Primary Responsibilities:
Set-up and efficiently operate assembly/packaging equipment.
Proficient in operating one (1) piece of equipment.
Perform all quality checks according to Manufacturing Inspection Instructions (MII) and quality specifications sheets.
Track, document quality checks and scrap for assigned equipment as required.
Follow all prescribed safety/housekeeping practices and procedures.
Track machine downtime per shift.
Report any maintenance related issues and collaborate with other departments to resolve them.
Work with other team members and actively participate in team events and meetings.

Qualifications:
Must possess High School Diploma or GED.
Must be able to work 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm with occasional overtime, no greater than 12 hours per day; occasional Saturdays may be required.
6+ months of assembly manufacturing experience required.
Must be able to perform basic math (adding and subtraction).
Must be able to recognize and identify parts, problems, and offer solution.
Must be able to complete supplemental training (i.e. technical math, basic computer skills, basic measuring skills, etc.)

What you'll do:
- Perform a variety of assembly, machining, wiring, mounting, fitting, labeling and packing duties for a variety of parts and products.
- Work from assembly layouts, schematics, drawings, sketches, bills of material and other instructions.
- Use various hand and power tools including pneumatic wrench and screwdriver, nut runner, taps, electric drill, etc. as required in performance of job duties.
- Perform repetitive bench assembly taking care to position materials and assemble details such as screws, contacts, springs, nuts, arms, washers, receptacles, guards, gaskets, etc. in proper sequence as prescribed.
- Assemble mounting plates or frames; assemble and wire starters, relays, transformers, switches, circuit breakers; fit and adjust outer operating controls as prescribed.
- Operate riveting, inserting, and heat stamping machines. Perform simple setups and operate single spindle drill press to drill, tap, ream, counterbore, mill and slot.
- Use jigs and fixtures provided or improvise as necessary.
- Operate mixing machine and perform related operations to prepare Chico sealing compound and thread lubricant. Deburr, sand and clean parts and finished assembly as required or directed to assure quality products.
- Inspect parts and complete products visually or using fixed gauges and test as prescribed. Detect and segregate defective material.
- Make up cartons, pack finished products in proper containers, seal, label and dispose to storage area.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow standard or prescribed safety procedures.

How will you make an impact?
We are seeking a highly skilled, technically proficient and detail-oriented Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in metal structures, frame design, pipes and fabrication to support the development of power and cooling infrastructure for data centers. This role is critical in designing robust mechanical systems that house and support electrical and thermal management equipment, ensuring structural integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.
What will you do?
- Experience designing and integrating hydronic systems including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers for data center cooling applications.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, pressure drop calculations, and pipe sizing for chilled water and glycol-based systems.
- Understanding of installation constraints, maintenance access, and serviceability in large-scale mechanical infrastructure.
- Design and develop mechanical frames, enclosures, and support structures for data center power and cooling products (UPS systems, battery racks, CRAC units, containment systems, LVS, MVS).
- Perform advanced structural analysis using FEA tools to validate mechanical integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.
- Analyze load paths, stress concentrations, and fatigue life of structural components to ensure long-term reliability.
- Design metal enclosures with considerations for airflow, thermal containment, EMI shielding, and environmental protection.
- Evaluate and implement new materials, coatings, and fabrication technologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
- Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand deployment constraints and gather feedback for design improvements.
- Create detailed CAD models and fabrication drawings, including weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts
- Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods to optimize cost, performance, and reliability
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and systems engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with functional components.
- Lead mechanical design reviews and contribute to cross-functional design validation efforts.
- Develop and maintain design documentation including BOMs, specifications, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design for manufacturability (DFM), cost reduction, and performance optimization.
- Interface with suppliers and customers to resolve fabrication issues and ensure quality standards are met.
- Support lifecycle management of mechanical components, including obsolescence planning and alternate sourcing.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues.
- Ensure mechanical designs support airflow management, thermal containment, and integration with cooling systems (in-row cooling, rear door heat exchangers).
- Collaborate with compliance and certification teams to ensure mechanical designs meet global regulatory requirements (UL, CE, RoHS, REACH)

Education:

Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and fabrication, preferably in data center, industrial, or power systems environment.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor) and FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal forming, and machining is a must
- Experience with structural design for heavy equipment or large assemblies, and familiarity with thermal and airflow considerations in enclosure design is required
