Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Overview

The Patient Services Associate (PSA) is responsible for ensuring an excellent experience for patients and maintaining efficient front-office workflows. Responsibilities

Scheduling & Communication

Key Responsibilities:

The Staff RN in the Day Surgery/Infusion Center – IV/PICC Team provides care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This role focuses on PICC line insertion, maintenance, and related IV therapy procedures.

What you will do in this role:

  • Responsible for PICC line and mid insertion, monitoring, declotting, and discontinuation.
  • Administers intravenous infusions and injections.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding PICC lines and central lines.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and supports the hospital's mission.
  • Responsible for PICC line insertion; assists staff with monitoring PICC lines, declotting, and discontinuing catheters with or without catheter tip cultures.
  • Assists with difficult IV insertions.
  • Responsible for routine dressing changes on Central Lines.
  • Responsible for patient/family education regarding PICC line insertion and dressing changes for Central Lines.
  • Assists Clinical Educator(s) in providing education to staff as necessary.
  • Keeps current on advances in IV therapy and line insertion.
  • Administers intravenous infusions and injections, based on doctor orders, on selected patients including but not limited to: antibiotics, iron infusions, steroids, Remicaide, blood and blood products, Rhogam, Procrit, and Neupogen.
  • Carries out or assists ancillary services with diagnostic procedures such as Cortisone Stimulation Testing, ACTH, R-Gene 10 test, Tensilon testing, and/or Therapeutic Phlebotomy.
  • Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment of assigned unit.
  • Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital.
  • Responsible for orientation of new personnel as delegated by the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or Director.
