As an Assembler Installer for Cable Controlled Systems, you will be pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the installation and assembly processes. Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform pickup, rework, authorized changes, and functional checks on work typically installed or assembled by lower classifications.

  • Use a tension meter to set cable tension according to specifications.

  • Conduct reaming and riveting as necessary to complete work assignments.

  • Report job handicaps, such as errors in parts, materials, or assembly procedures, following shop procedures.

  • Select appropriate parts, materials, and tools, and work with blueprints, assembly pages, and work orders to install and adjust cable-controlled systems in the aircraft.

  • Review bar charts or automated timelines to determine job assignments and obtain necessary drawings.

  • Locate work areas using drawings or paperwork that specify airplane and section numbers.

  • Verify kitted parts against installation plans and bill of materials to ensure they are correct and free of defects.

  • Obtain parts from the Parts Control Area if they are not pre-picked, ensuring they meet specifications.

  • Drill, ream, and countersink holes in parts/assemblies per specifications, using appropriate tools.

  • Disassemble parts and deburr holes to prepare for fastener installation.

  • Use solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly, and apply sealants, alodine, primers, adhesives, and special finishes as required.

  • Install cable control pulleys and rig control cables according to drawings and specifications.

  • Check and adjust actuator motors for full travel of flight control systems using power sources and hand tools.

  • Clean the work area and ensure the removal of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and submit completed jobs or in-process checks to inspectors as required.

  • Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Independently operate and adjust numerically controlled Tape Laminator machines according to established shop practices and procedures.

  • Prepare for job setup by reviewing production orders, work orders (W/O), and setup documents, ensuring access to blueprints and drawings.

  • Verify that the correct materials and tools are issued and free from visible defects before starting work.

  • Identify the type of machine setup needed based on drawings and work orders, including flat tape laminating machines and automated fiber placement machines.

  • Check machine setups and parts completed by previous operators to ensure safe working conditions and job progress.

  • Prepare machines by obtaining materials from storage and performing necessary processes before operation, such as rolling tackifier and laying fiberglass.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, to align and level the layup table as required.

  • Retrieve and download CNC programs to the machine controller from the mainframe server.

  • Set machine coordinates and adjust offsets, tool heights, and laser settings using the controller keyboard or pendant.

  • Run the machine to lay graphite plies, copper ampe plies, and perform hand trimming and rework as necessary.

  • Monitor machine operations for unusual vibrations or sounds, checking gauges and displays for warnings.

  • Move finished parts and tools using appropriate material handling equipment as required.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and using personal protective equipment.

  • Rework materials per engineering specifications and incorporate changes as needed, including leather repairs and touch-ups. 

  • Remove marks and scratches from metal surfaces using appropriate tools and techniques. 

  • Seal edges of repair areas with color-matched sealant as required.

  • Consult with engineering, planning, and inspection on job-related issues and contact team leaders or supervisors when assistance is needed. 

  • Document repairs identified by other mechanics and maintain personal certifications as required.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Wire Assembler to join our Electrical Assembly team in Everett, Washington.

As a Wire Assembler, you will be a vital member of our team, dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in our manufacturing processes. In this position, you will cut and trim electrical wire, construct wire bundles that connect electrical systems, and assemble shelves and panels. Your role will involve ensuring accurate and efficient assembly of components, while proactively identifying and addressing any discrepancies to maintain a seamless workflow. You will collaborate with various teams to facilitate the movement of parts. Additionally, you will prepare products for delivery, utilizing a range of tools and equipment to achieve precision in your work.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify discrepancies and promptly inform the appropriate work groups to ensure resolution.

  • Make necessary adjustments to maintain proper machine operations and facilitate part movement within the organization.

  • Coordinate, prepare, and package finished products for transportation to customers.

  • Assist colleagues by answering questions and sharing information about work methods, processes, and procedures.

  • Prepare kits of materials and components to support the manufacturing build process, revising drawings and incorporating changes as needed.

  • Operate with or without wire forming boards, jigs, fixtures, or tooling to complete tasks. Utilize information systems to track parts and manage work priority and sequencing. Perform mechanical tasks such as sealing, soldering, encapsulation, and decal installation as required.

  • Use electrical testing instruments, including ohmmeters and test lights, to conduct continuity checks and implement authorized changes.

  • Drill, saw, file, sand, patch, and build up plastic parts and fixtures to meet required tolerances.

  • Operate shop equipment, such as ovens, presses, and vacuum equipment, to finish and inspect parts.

  • Create charts, records, and graphs as assigned, and apply protective materials and parting agents to molds, forms, and dies.

  • Notify supervisors of equipment failures and malfunctions and make temporary molds and dams from various materials as needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Handle and work with various metals (e.g., aluminum, brass, steel, titanium) and plastics (e.g., acrylic, fiberglass, kevlar) for 6-8 hours daily. Occasionally apply sealants, solvents, adhesives, cleaners, liquid coatings, and lubricants for 1-3 hours daily, ensuring proper use of materials such as epoxy, acetone, latex, and grease.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as an Electrician or Apprentice.

  • Completion of an electrical trade school program or have military related electrical experience.

  • Enrolled in a Boeing partnered manufacturing related high school or community and technology college academic program.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking skilled Make-Ready Designers (primary focus) and Power Distribution Designers to support engineering programs for major electric and telecom utilities. Ideal candidates bring demonstrated experience in overhead utility pole design, NESC application, clearance assessment, pole loading analysis, and construction package development. Useful design platforms include DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or client-specific drafting systems.


In this role, you will review field/walkout data, evaluate existing attachment conditions, model pole loading, determine make-ready requirements, and prepare accurate construction-ready deliverables. Applicants without utility pole design or distribution engineering experience will not be considered.


Note: This position is remote, but new hires must attend a 2-week paid, in-person orientation at our Perrysburg, OH headquarters.


WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Execute overhead distribution and make-ready design work orders while meeting quality, time, and budget expectations
• Apply established engineering design standards, NESC requirements, and internal processes
• Perform end-to-end make-ready, joint-use, and/or general distribution design
