Position Overview
An industrial repair facility in Bakersfield, California is seeking a skilled Drill Bit Rebuild Welder / Hardfacing Technician to support the refurbishment of drilling tools used in oilfield and water well drilling operations.
This role involves rebuilding worn or damaged drill bit teeth and cutting structures using welding and hardfacing techniques.
Candidates with experience in buildup welding, oxy-acetylene welding, and hardfacing applications are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Rebuild and repair drill bit teeth and cutting structures
- Perform hardfacing and buildup welding on drill bits and tool components
- Use oxy-acetylene torch and welding equipment to restore worn surfaces
- Apply hardfacing materials to improve wear resistance
- Grind and shape rebuilt teeth to restore proper cutting geometry
- Inspect repaired components for quality and durability
- Maintain safe work practices in a shop environment
Qualifications
- 2+ years welding experience
- Experience with hardfacing or buildup welding
- Experience with oxy-acetylene torch welding
- Ability to operate grinders and shop tools
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
