GENERAL SUMMARY:
The American Legion’s commitment to children in need spans to the organization’s earliest years, and its foundational principle of ensuring “square deal for every child” which has given rise to many opportunities. This position plays a key role in advancing that mission by promoting youth education, well-being, and scholarship opportunities.
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Youth Program Managers of Youth Education and Youth Well-Being, and to be prepared to assume the roles and responsibilities in the program manager’s extended absence. This role requires strong leadership, administrative accuracy, and financial acumen. This position involves a detailed understanding of youth education, youth well-being programs, scholarship and grant administration, investigatory research, and concern for the health, welfare, and education of America’s youth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in maintaining a working knowledge of the day-to-day program administration and standard operating procedures for the range of American Legion youth scholarships, child well-being foundation (CWF), veterans & children foundation (VCF), and other collateral responsibilities assigned to respective program managers.
- Administer American Legion Youth scholarships
a. Grade applications by reviewing and validating submitted documentation.
b. Liaise with scholarship applicants, recipients, and families as required to assist.
c. Maintain records of scholarships and other relevant information.
- Handle initial intake and review of all grant applications for financial assistance, working with departments and investigators to ensure completeness and accuracy in ascertaining financial need and developing executive summary for review by leadership.
- Reviews and tracks all approved CWF grant applications, ensuring compliance with the grant guidelines.
- Liaise with departments and their chairman for children & youth and education and scholarships, including Legion Family members.
- Serves as staff liaison to the Citizenship and Naturalization Subcommittee, or other subcommittees as may be assigned by the director, with the following duties:
a. Developing meeting agenda.
b. Conducting room set-up to include audio/video, U.S. and POW/MIA flags
c. Taking meeting minutes and assisting the chairman in with written and oral reports to
the Americanism Commission.
d. Performing other tasks as required by the chairman or members of the subcommittee
- Coordinate requests for Scouting certificates and Square Knot scouting awards at the direction of the program manager-Youth Education.
- Assists with maintaining multiple donor recognition and award programs for the American Legion Child Well-Being Foundation and Veterans & Children Foundation.
- Works with Media & Communications, the Office of Fund Developing, Finance, and other divisions to ensure accurate reporting and grant/scholarship distribution and deadlines are met.
- Responsible for order, tracking, and shipment of all inventory-controlled products.
- Assists in developing, researching, and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs), annual reports, newsletters, printed literature, and websites.
- Assists with planning, preparing, and coordinating meetings at the national level, including training at the Children & Youth segment of the National Americanism Conference (NAC) and exhibition booths at the national convention.
- Assists program managers with budget tracking, annual budget planning, and administration.

Education/Technical Knowledge:
Four-year degree or knowledge of specialized principles or techniques equivalent to those that would normally be obtained through a formal four-year college/university academic program; or in-depth specialized training directly related to the type of work to be performed.
Additional Skills Needed:
- Eligibility for membership in The American Legion is highly desired but not required; eligibility for membership in the Sons of The American Legion and/or American Legion Auxiliary is also favorable.
- Two years’ experience in administrative work with a nonprofit organization or youth programs is a plus.
- Possess excellent public speaking, writing and managerial skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills.

A day in the life of a Certified Respiratory Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of all patients with pulmonary disorders in both critical and non-critical areas pursuant to a prescription of a licensed physician.
- Performs cardiopulmonary evaluation, monitoring, respiratory therapy treatment techniques, respiratory procedures and patients and family education.
- Responsible for the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of data obtained from physiological specimens, performing diagnostic tests, studies and research of the cardiopulmonary system and neurophysiological studies related to respiratory care.
- Administers and/or monitors medical gases, mechanical ventilation support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care procedures, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation related and limited to respiratory care.
- Utilizes the application of scientific principles for the identification, prevention, remediation, research, and rehabilitation of acute or chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
- Administers therapeutic Respiratory Care procedures and sets up related Respiratory Care equipment as prescribed by the physician.
- Records all pertinent information of provided therapeutic procedures and patient response in the electronic medical record system, EPIC.
- Sets up, verifies proper function, operates and monitors all invasive and non-invasive respiratory equipment on patients in need of respiratory assistance.
- Participates in the management of patients on life support systems by recommending and performing appropriate changes based on blood gas results and weaning studies.
- Responds to and participates in all emergency and trauma codes.
- Changes and maintains ventilators, ventilator circuits & respiratory equipment in accordance with the Infection Control Policy of the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Runs quality controls on blood gas analyzers.
- Monitors and changes all manifolds, including but not limited to emergency oxygen, nitrous oxide and nitrogen manifold cylinders.
- Retrieves, cleans and assembles all respiratory equipment using disinfecting solutions and cleaning agents in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, and primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 165 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

The Clinical Supervisor provides coverage and support, under the direction of the practice manager and physician(s) of the practice, to clinical team members to ensure smooth patient flow and physician satisfaction. A day in the life of a Clinical Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

The Multi Modality CT Technologist is trained, qualified and competent in at least two of the below disciplines. The technologist is expected to work in any area for which they are qualified based on the operational needs of the department. - General Diagnostic Radiology - CT - MRI - Mammography - Interventional Radiology - Ultrasound - Nuclear Medicine/PET.

This is a Weekend shift position: 8am-5pm
Responsibilties:
A day in the life of a Multi Modality CT Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Performs complex CT procedures.
- Evaluates radiographs to ensure that radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.
- Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, health care proxy and health care providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety. The collection of information is determined by the patient's needs or condition.
- Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.
- Preps patient for scanning: (i.e. shielding, immobilization devices).
- Assist providers with CT guided Interventional procedures as required.
- Perform CT examination and administer contrast following established departmental protocols.
- Provides accurate explanations and instructions at any appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand. Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure when appropriate.
- Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
- Monitors the patient's physical condition during the procedure.
- Reviews images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure.
- Performs retrospective reconstruction on raw data.
- Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
- Adheres to the principals of image gently & image wisely.
- Follow & adheres to infection control guidelines and sterile techniques.
- Revises scanning parameters to better visualize the pathology in accordance with established protocol.
- Reviews all diagnostic or therapeutic data for completeness and accuracy.
- Documents diagnostic, treatment, and patient data in the appropriate record.
- Archives images to data storage devices according to established guidelines.
- Assesses equipment to determine acceptable performance based on established guidelines.
- Performs daily clerical duties, which includes the use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital.
- Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing AIDET standards.
- Administers emergency care including performing CPR, if necessary.
- Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
- On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
- Adheres to the policy of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and /or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Performs modality specific daily and monthly QA.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R).
- Registration with the ARRT - one or more of the following modalities: MRI (or ARMRIT), CT, Xray, IR, or Mammography.
- NJ state license and Certification in Nuclear Medicine only if secondary modality is in Nuclear Medicine.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Candidates will only be considered if they have experience in OB and are looking to incorporate that into the practice.
The incoming physician should be ready to take on a case load of 10-20 patients per day, ranging from infants to elderly seniors.
The physician should be willing to work an OB call schedule of 1:3 weekdays/weekends, in addition to a light call schedule in the clinic.
