WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Operate industrial equipment to manufacture the components and final products (tires or tracks) while respecting the safety, quality, productivity levels and other Michelin standards.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role encompasses all aspects of project management, technical specification, design, analysis, installation management, equipment start-up and manufacturing. Automation/Electrical engineers support the manufacturing processes and equipment in one or several manufacturing facilities by designing, specifying, purchasing and constructing Automated/Electrical systems (hardware and software) and components. This engineer is expected to spend a fair amount of time in hands-on technical activities as well. Interaction with all levels of employees will be expected. This is sometimes accomplished through the management of contract engineering resources.

WHAT YOU WILL DO


This position includes roles as the Lead Electrical Engineer and project manager for our Aviation Tire manufacturing facility, supporting efforts to design, build, install, maintain, and modify our manufacturing equipment.


- Create initial designs, assist to define functional specifications for new machines and systems, develop estimates and budget, assure procurement of parts and systems, monitors electrical equipment fabrication, conduct vendor/contractor management, deliver complete and current technical documentation, and oversee installation and startup of projects that range from simple modifications of existing machinery to large-scale expansion projects.
- Have hands-on involvement with equipment and processes by being available to the operators and maintenance personnel and gaining detailed knowledge of the process.
- Provide technical expertise in the maintenance, modification and installation of equipment and machinery in the tire manufacturing process, including technical assistance for problem solving analysis.
- Participate in all facets of project management including: Economic justification, design, vendors/procurement, installation, start-up, qualification, machine acceptance, training for operations & maintenance, project reviews and technical documentation.

- Provide liaison between facility engineering, central quality, methods and purchasing teams, and equipment suppliers to assure good mutual system requirement understanding.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering along with demonstrated successful project management experience. Associates degree with extensive experience may be considered.

Proven electrical design skills, and the ability to deal with electrical, electronic and mechanical tire manufacturing equipment.

Minimum of 5 years industrial electrical design experience, preferably in manufacturing/industrial equipment.

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision. The applicant must be able to develop positive relationships with customers.

Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated solid teamwork, communication, and planning skills required. Previous project management experience or team leadership experience is preferred.

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to communicate with French counterparts on technical issues is preferred.

Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with outside contractors and equipment suppliers.

Experience with AutoCAD electrical latest version and PLC programming (i.e. Allen-Bradley) is required. Robot (Yaskawa), vision system (Keyence or Cognex), and Measurement (laser profilometer) experience is a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint).

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including:

  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance

  • Performs preventive maintenance

  • Performs complex repairs with minimal (if any) support.

  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents

  • Diagnoses and repairs complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal (if any) support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable.

  • Performs remote triage to with RCRC and customers to determine best solution to assist roadside breakdowns.

  • Performs facility maintenance duties

  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.

  • Instructs and advises other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics

  • Coaches/Mentors other level technicians

  • Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs

  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available

  • Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)

Responsibilities:

The Fleet Team Lead’s primary purpose is to oversee the completion of preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, tankers, and trailers over multiple sites:  Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Augusta and Savannah.

 

Skills Required:

 

o Teach Diagnostic platforms to all mechanics

o Assist in major component repairs and replacements

o Will have the final call in the use of 3rd party repair.

o Ensure our mechanics work on all vehicle types including forklifts and scrubbers

· Monitor work order reports daily to ensure productivity measures are achieved

· Monitor and minimize parts inventory stock

· Supports contact for dealers, when trucks are sent out

· Minimize downtime

· Support Fleet Mechanic Staffing

· Compliance Responsibilities

o Upholding Fleet Shop Standards

o Serve as the Fleet/DOT subject matter expert

o Execute Preventive Maintenance audits

· Expert and trainer with our fleet database system

· P&L Adherence to budgets

o Inspect preventive maintenance work

o Ensure execution of the Tire process

o National Vendor Execution in the field

o Minimize/right size parts inventories

o Minimizing 3rd Party Repairs for all vehicle types

o Eliminating Short Term Rentals

o Minimize tows with improved workmanship

· Improving Customer Service through

o Vehicle readiness, reducing downtime

o Breakdown reduction

o Minimizing vehicle out of service time

· Other projects as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:

Ability maintain a CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement

· Ability to secure and maintain T4 (airbrake) certification within specified period

· Must have heavy fleet tech experience

· Expert with Trimble and following all processes

· High level knowledge of all diagnostic systems

· Expert fleet mechanic with diesel, propane

· Ability to teach and hold accountable through quality coaching

· Experience with safety practices

· Ability to influence performance and change

· Experience working with vendors

· Customer focused attitude in a dynamic environment

· Proficient with computers and windows-based software.

· Ability to travel to different sites 2 to 3 days per week

· Excellent written, communication and organizational skills

THE OPPORTUNITY

Create, support, and animate the energy and water progress plan to ensure that the energy performance of the site is effectively managed. Analyze the energy and water consumption of the site and manage and mentor site leadership to the standards of energy and water programs to guarantee the progress plan.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Maintain a roadmap and strategic plan of energy, CO2, and water targets and performance, which is in line with the Group's objectives and ambitions. Ensure the plan is updated annually and the status is routinely presented to the site management team.
  • Facilitate a 10-year energy performance improvement plan for the site.
  • Follow up and document the implementation of the annual actions resulting from the site's roadmap.
  • Lead the various activities (workshops) of the site to improve water and energy consumption.
  • Guarantee the reliability of the basic data necessary for the calculations of the energy and water indicators.
  • Analyze the relevance and effectiveness of energy and water maintenance plans, provide feedback and recommendations on corrective actions needed.
  • Establish and maintain standards of energy consumption by activity and by type of equipment that reflect plant production, flex, and baseline energy consumption.
  • Ensure that water & energy meters are operational, the level of metering meets the analysis needs, and that the associated digitization of water and energy performance is in place to deliver progress.
  • Drive the site's energy costs and environmental footprint to optimal levels by constantly improving energy performance.
  • The energy and environmental indicators are analyzed and reliable. The site energy performance is communicated and understood within the site and beyond the site level.
  • Documented feedback such as lessons learned, revised standards/specifications, and best practices are shared to improve the knowledge of the site personnel, including designers of new equipment and installations.
  • Work in collaboration with energy partners to optimize contracts with energy supply, transformation, and maintenance.
  • Evaluate efficiency of the production and distribution of fluids to identify opportunities to drive progress on energy consumption and costs.
  • Support the different activities of the site to improve energy consumption and animate progress involving all employees, such as operators, maintenance, technicians, and managers through steering groups, MDP (Managing Daily Performance) production through awareness campaigns.
  • Lead and participate in energy diagnostics, both at the site and in support of other sites in the time zone.
  • Contribute to the establishment of consumption standards.
  • Modelling the energy flows for the site and the levels of consumption.
  • Establish consumption standards by activity and type of equipment.
  • Apply energy expertise for diagnostics and assist in problem resolution.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

Support the Energy and Water Saving (EWS) Project. This role will contribute to sustainability initiatives by assisting in data analysis, project coordination, and technical research aimed at improving energy and water efficiency across operations.

Michelin has an immediate opening for a Safety Professional who will provide support and direction to meet the site's safety, health, and environment objectives. This role is critical in crafting and maintaining a safe environment for our employees and communities. Located in Woodburn, Indiana, our BF Goodrich tire plant produces passenger and light truck tires, contributing to the cultural and economic vitality of northeastern Indiana. What Will You Do

  • Responds to and coordinates all emergency responses in the plant
  • Provides mentorship and direction to Contract Security Services and the Emergency Response Team
  • Assists departments in investigating incidents to determine causes and devise preventative measures to minimize recurrence. Assists in preparing incident reports when needed
  • Assists in developing and reviewing safety training programs and provides training when requested
  • Monitors overall safety of plant operations, including contractors, and provides advice and assistance to line management
  • Monitors weather and provides information to plant management on any situation that may affect plant safety or operations
  • Monitors and corrects contractor activities to ensure compliance with all safety programs and regulations
  • Coordinates hot work and confined space programs
  • Monitors all aspects of the fire system, including the alarm system, to ensure it is maintained in working order
  • Performs audiometric testing, vision screening, and respirator fit testing as requested

What Will You Bring

  • A willingness to work in an industrial plant environment on a rotating 2-2-3, 12-hour shift
  • HS diploma or equivalent experience; an Associate's degree in Safety or Emergency Medical Procedures is preferred
  • First Aid/CPR or EMR certification required; must complete EMT certification within the first 12 months on the job
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Cooperative teammate who willingly supports others and collaborates to solve problems
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

Michelin Louisville is seeking Engineering Co-Op students majoring in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, and Electrical Engineering to join the team at our plant in Louisville, KY.

In our petrochemical facility we produce synthetic rubber from monomer feedstocks and catalysts, through a polymerization reaction.

The product, after other operations, is carefully weighed and pressed into uniform bales before shipping to the next Michelin factory for tire production.

Our facility supplies various rubber products that go into tires in the USA, Canada, and in Michelin factories around the world. Our site is one of the three Michelin petrochemical sites producing synthetic rubber for cars, vans, trucks, two-wheelers, aircraft, agricultural tractors, and mining equipment.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Work on a project team to analyze data to improve performance and/or production
  • Ensure products meet the defined quality and performance standards
  • Assist with productivity, cost-reduction, and continuous-improvement projects
  • Study processes and propose improvements

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

The ability to interact in a professional manner with external partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues. Success in working with other people or team to meet a common objective. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn other software systems. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 Currently enrolled in a Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent program at an accredited four-year college or university.
