The Construction Purchasing Manager oversees the procurement, inventory control, and sales of equipment parts to support maintenance operations, field service teams, and customer needs. This role ensures that parts are sourced cost‑effectively, stocked appropriately, and delivered on time to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational efficiency. The manager collaborates closely with technicians, vendors, warehouse staff, and internal departments to maintain smooth, reliable parts operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure high‑quality parts at competitive prices.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply, favorable terms, and timely deliveries.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, lead times, or pricing.
  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure availability of critical parts while preventing overstock and minimizing carrying costs.
  • Manage purchase orders, sales orders, returns, cores, and warranty claims with accurate documentation.
  • Maintain organized stock areas and ensure proper labeling, storage, and tracking of parts.
  • Promote a knowledgeable, efficient, and safety‑focused team environment.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • Experience with construction equipment terminology, specifications, and parts identification.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using accounting or ERP systems (SAP, Viewpoint, Oracle, or similar).
  • Background in parts management, procurement, or inventory control within construction, heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial environments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
