Highlights include:

  • St. Luke’s Division of Pediatric Neurology currently consists of two physicians who provide outpatient clinics, inpatient rounding and interpretation of EEGs and sleep studies.
  • In 2023, St. Luke’s announced the establishment of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital at the Bethlehem Campus and is a proud member of the Children’s Hospital Association, representing decades of growth and investment in pediatrics and the Network’s commitment to pediatric services.
  • St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics consists of inpatient, neonatal, emergency medicine, specialty and primary care providers spread across a variety of practice locations. The Network also has a robust base of family practice providers throughout the St. Luke’s service area.
  • The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 8-bed unit which opened in February 2020 at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. The unit is staffed by critical care intensivists and specially trained pediatric nurses and receives admissions from the Network’s 16 hospital campuses. The unit is also located adjacent to the 17-bed Inpatient Pediatric Unit allowing for easy transfer and collaboration across units.
  • The new Pediatric Emergency Department is a 6 bed unit located within St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and will expand to 11 beds at the completion of an ongoing construction project. The Pediatric ER provides care for over 10,000 patients each year at St. Luke's Children's Hospital.
  • The unit is supported by a growing team of pediatric specialists spanning 40 specialty areas including pediatric surgery, GI, endocrinology, nephrology, developmental pediatrics, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, anesthesia, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more! Many are conveniently located at St. Luke’s Pediatric Specialty Center, the region’s only freestanding building dedicated entirely to pediatric services.
  • The most robust and highest volume OB program in the region with a strong maternal and fetal medicine program which delivers nearly 6,000 babies per year.
  • Surgical Level III NICU located at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, Bethlehem, PA, 8 bed Level II NICU at St. Luke’s Allentown Campus, 26 bed Level III NICU at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus, and a 6 bed Level II NICU at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

Provide direct nursing care on an 80 bed Cardiac unit in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Ochsner Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to serve as Medical Director of of Pediatric CVICU in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Responsibilities will focus on all aspects of non-invasive imaging including fetal echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography and general echocardiography with teaching responsibilities for pediatric residents, medical students, and sonographers. There is also an opportunity for cross-sectional imaging as part of our growing cardiac MRI and CT program. The job with also include outpatient clinic, inpatient service and telemedicine.

Ochsner Children’s provides services for all pediatric cardiac sub-specialties including heart failure/transplant, EP, ACHD, interventional cardiology, imaging including echocardiography and cardiac MRI and CT, and fetal cardiology, comprehensive single ventricle program, and neurodevelopmental clinic. The heart center includes 21 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, 6 cardiac intensivists practicing in a dedicated pediatric 12 bed cardiac intensive care unit and 3 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists. The program performs approximately 250 cardiac surgeries, 400 cardiac catheterizations (75% interventional) and 19,000 ambulatory visits at 15 locations across Louisiana and Mississippi per year. survival after cardiac surgery for our most complex patients (STS STAT 4 and 5 categories) is in the top 10% of programs reporting to STS.

Our comprehensive Ochsner Children’s program is the region’s leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric complex specialty services including, liver and bone marrow transplantation, a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group, advanced GI and Hepatology, advanced spine surgery, Hematology-Oncology and AYA Oncology, Cleft Palate/Cranio-Facial Surgery and the region’s only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center.

Ochsner Children’s Hospital includes a 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, a NAEC-accredited level IV, 4 bed Pediatric EMU and a 44-bed Pediatric Acute Care unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, supported by a 24-7 pediatric and neonatal transport team utilizing rotary and fixed wing aircraft, as well as ground transport. Last year we broke ground on a new 5-story Children’s Hospital on our main campus in New Orleans, with expected opening in quarter 1 of 2028.

In addition to direct patient care, Ochsner Children’s Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is also responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland, Australia.
