The Assistant Manager, Maintenance is responsible for supporting and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the floor maintenance team. This role ensures the safe and effective operation of plant systems, processes, and equipment while promoting a strong safety culture. The Assistant Manager, Maintenance will also collaborate closely with cross-functional support teams to ensure maintenance activities align with the company's goals, values, and operational standards.
From your EXPERTISE to ours
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Ensure all aspects of plant safety and quality are upheld in accordance with plant and departmental procedures.
- Lead and manage skilled maintenance technicians, schedules, and services to build a proactive, high-performing maintenance team that supports production equipment and plant operations.
- Establish and manage departmental priorities and work allocation to strengthen overall plant performance, improve mechanical reliability, and reduce downtime.
- Develop, coach, and train team members to support employee growth, skills development, and career progression.
- Support in-house training programs that build core competencies within the maintenance department, ensuring accurate and timely evaluation and repair of mechanical, electrical, programming, and process-related issues.
- Maintain accountability for maintenance department performance, including technical downtime and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assist in developing and maintaining the department's vision and master plan in alignment with production needs, while fostering strong preventive maintenance (PM) programs and encouraging operator ownership.
- Drive the development and implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) in collaboration with operations teams.
- Ensure all equipment, systems, and processes across the facility are maintained and operated in compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including PMO, OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other governing agencies.
- Champion environmental, safety, and quality initiatives that reinforce the company's core values through technical implementation and process improvements at the plant level.
- Assist in managing the maintenance department budget and ensure adherence to established financial parameters.
Environmental Responsibilities
- Oversee the effective implementation of quality standards, programs, and processes to improve operational efficiencies and reduce or eliminate production waste and spoilage.
- Support company environmental programs, including recycling initiatives and energy conservation efforts such as powering down equipment and systems when not in use.
- Proactively identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental impact while managing operational costs.
Safety Responsibilities
- Perform all job duties in a safe manner and lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:
- Bachelor's degree required; major in industrial or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience within a maintenance function, including at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing core maintenance services in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience utilizing a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) approach preferred.
- Exposure to reducing technical downtime (TD), overtime (OT), mean time between failures (MTBF), and work order (WO) completion times.
- Experience managing actual maintenance costs versus budgeted maintenance costs.
- Experience developing preventive maintenance (PM) programs and validating effectiveness against technical downtime performance.
- Proven ability to prioritize maintenance and business needs on a monthly basis to flex spending and achieve operational goals.
- Experience working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); Infor experience preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing both hourly and salaried employees to build a proactive, skilled, and adaptable maintenance team.
- Ability and willingness to support plant operations during off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute inventory management and preventive maintenance plans on a daily basis.
- Demonstrated initiative with the ability to establish processes and programs while working independently.

Overview
The Maintenance Technician is to assist the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the physical integrity of the property. Responsibilities
- The Maintenance Technician will conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures and all state and federal regulations (such as Lead Based Paint, ADA, Fair Housing, HAZCOM Program, OSHA, etc.).
- Must be knowledgeable of all pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Must be aware of the condition of the property at all times and take immediate steps to correct any unsafe condition.
- Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on all appropriate equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and the Property Manager. Inspect and maintain all tools in excellent condition.
- Must be aware of all utility meter cut-offs, apartment and fixture cut-offs, and sewer clean-outs.
- Perform work area clean-up and safety related duties.
- Ensure that storage areas remain locked when not in use.
- Diagnose and perform minor or routine maintenance or repair, as directed, involving the following on a daily basis:
- Electrical and plumbing
- A/C and heating systems
- Appliances
- Water irrigation systems
- Stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings

Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Starting Pay: Up to $34/hr depending on experience
A Maintenance & Repair Technician responsible for the maintenance and repair of conveyor systems and machinery. Troubleshoot and repair conveyor components, including motors, gears, switches, and other electrical or mechanical parts.
Required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Proven experience in conveyor maintenance or a similar role.
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, especially related to conveyor systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and prioritization skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and diagrams.
- Knowledge of standard safety procedures and regulations.
- Previous experience repairing conveyor systems is a plus, but not required.
Customer culture/inside information: 99% of the work is for Fed-Ex, repairing and servicing their conveyor systems at their packaging facilities. They service facilities in PA, MD, NY & NJ. They are very focused on finding the right people and minimizing turnover. 60 people overall in the company. They put a lot of time and effort into training.
Job order details: They have 2 openings in the area. Their home base will be their home. For the first 3 months or so they will ride along with another experienced technician. When they get a repair call, they will travel to the site. Eventually, they will get a company car once they are on their own. The company provides a fuel card and a corporate card if they have to stay overnight. They pay for travel time. Most repair calls are day trips; they estimate 10-15 trips per year are overnight.
They are open to anywhere from 3 years' experience or higher. The electrical experience is key and more important than the mechanical, just because the mechanical can more easily be taught. Conveyor experience is not required, but a plus. Previous experience repairing mechanical and electrical machinery in a manufacturing setting. No entry level, need previous experience. Associates would be nice but not required if they have the experience.
Assignment length: Contract to direct - based on 1040 hours.
Hours: Core hours are 8-5, travel position so may leave to go to sites earlier and return later.
Overtime: Expect to work 50 hours per week. Will pay time and a half for OT. They on occasion get “night emergency calls” they pay OT for those calls whether 40 hours has been reached or not. They consider this an extra thank you for doing work outside of normal business hours. Double time would be any “weekend visit” the employee would get. Their weekend calls are defined as any visit after 5 PM of Friday night to 5 AM Monday morning.
Travel: Yes, daily visits to sites for repairs, overnight trips are infrequent, 10-15 times per year.

Job Summary

About the Role

The role serves as the primary actuarial contact for auditors, regulators, and senior leadership and combines deep technical expertise with people leadership.
Responsibilities as the Vice President, Group Benefits Actuarial Valuation:
- Reserving & Valuation Leadership: Lead reserve valuation across Group Benefits products in accordance with GAAP, IFRS 17, and Statutory requirements, ensuring timely completion and senior management review.
- Assumptions & Governance: Review, approve, and enhance valuation assumptions and methodologies while ensuring consistent application of actuarial standards of practice.
- Model Development & Analytics: Build, maintain, and enhance complex actuarial models to improve predictive accuracy, analytics, and regulatory compliance.
- Audit & Regulatory Oversight: Serve as the primary actuarial contact for audits, state examinations, and regulatory reviews, supporting internal controls and model governance.
- Leadership & Strategy: Manage and develop the actuarial valuation team while communicating reserving results, emerging trends, and insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications for the Vice President, Group Benefits Actuarial Valuation:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related quantitative field required.
- Experience: 10+ years of actuarial experience within Group Benefits insurance, with senior-level responsibility across valuation, reserving, and team leadership.
- Certification & Membership: Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) required, with active membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAA) required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong expertise in Group Benefits products with familiarity across GAAP, IFRS 17, and Statutory reporting frameworks.
- Technical Skills: Advanced actuarial modeling, data analysis, and risk management skills with hands-on experience using complex valuation models and strong computational tools, with annuity valuation experience preferred.
- Skills & Attributes: Executive-level communication skills, experience partnering with senior leadership and Boards, strong regulatory judgment, and effective remote team leadership.
