The Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineer is the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for delivery of the GNC subsystem for a program and/or constellation. This includes subsystem/system level analysis to ensure requirements compliance, sensor and actuator selection, and Flight Control Software (FCSW) development and validation. Engineers in the GNC group are integral throughout the entire program lifecycle, providing mission and system design inputs, critical analysis products, software/algorithm development, support to satellite integration and test (I&T), and on-console support for on-orbit operations.
As a GNC REA at the Lead/Senior level, you will be the leader for the GNC subsystem for a given program/constellation. In addition to technical execution, it is critically important that engineers in this position are capable of management of a complex project, ensuring that high-quality work products are delivered on-time. This requires working familiarity with project management techniques, as well as an ability to identify, track, and mitigate subsystem risks in order to meet program execution objectives .

Business Capture
Lead pursuit shaping and capture in the broader strategic business area to include Acquisition Transformation Strategy initiatives.
Work with program management to innovate high-value, low-cost, yet quick-turn customer solutions.
Accountable for participating in and leading Gates and Engineering Bid Reviews (EBR) and coordinating with leadership to ensure reviews are scheduled in accordance with approve Delegation of Authority (DOA).
Execution
Technical Lead in the area of digital signal processing (DSP).
Ensure program success collaborating with program management, finance, supply chain, contracts, and other functions/disciplines, consistent with the CE responsibilities.
Reviews and approve program technical baselines, ensuring program phase appropriateness.
Ensure collaboration between teams to achieve cost/schedule/performance efficiencies.
Review and approve engineering execution risk mitigations and opportunity capture plans, ensure alignment to work being performed.
Ensure program-level Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and ad hoc review boards are thoroughly implemented with appropriate frequency.
Accountable for providing engineering inputs to Program Estimate At Completions (EACs) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs).

People
Ensure base program and task order deliveries are staffed with appropriate engineering skillsets.
Review and communicate staffing demand for the base program, task order deliveries, and in anticipation program modifications.
Develop and maintain a Chief Engineer succession plan, actively mentor potential successors.
Process & Policy
Ensure the programs engineering leads and engineering personnel are following approved program processes, procedures and contractual requirements.
Request and lead engineering reviews and customer technical meetings, ensuring they are appropriate to the scope and phase of the program (e.g. Operational Readiness Review, Increment Planning, etc.).
Accountable to plan, develop, and review program estimates at complete, bids, milestone reviews, and gates per the approved S-ISR Delegation of Authority, or as otherwise directed by the Program Area Chief Engineer (PACE).
If failures occur, ensure Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action (FRACA) implementation is thorough, addresses systemic issues (if any), and is in accordance with company policy.
