Millennium Space Systems (MSS) has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Power Systems Manager (Level K) to join the MSS team in El Segundo, CA!

As the Electrical Power Systems Manager, you will lead the company's Electrical Power Systems team as a point of contact for technical, budget and resource allocation issues to meet team members' needs, customer requirements, and company goals.

Strong communication and organizational skills are critical to success in this position, along with the ability to build strong relationships, collaborate in a cross-functional environment, and utilize problem-solving skills to proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

- You are responsible for managing staffing the team, developing internal team processes, providing staff to support program Space Vehicle (SV) developments.
- You and your team will be responsible for developing maintaining the SV Electrical Power System (EPS) architectures for our various SV buses.
- Your team will be responsible for technical solutions along with maintaining cost and schedule inputs to the programs you are supporting.
- Your team will coordinate closely with products, harnessing, and flight software to develop common and forward leaning SV EPS architectures.
- You will coordinate with other engineering teams, programs, and products to provide staff, solve technical tasks, resolve discrepancies, and improve internal processes to support our spacecraft missions.

Other job duties to include:

- Continuously Improve our EPS team and processes
- Well defined development schedule templates
- Key artifacts, reviews, and deliverables
- Develop tools to provide cost and schedule inputs to EPS system development planning
- Mentor, train, motivate, and develop EPS staff
- Manage EPS team and staff including personnel reviews, tasking, and work scope
- Identify, communicate, and assist in the risk management process
- Assign EPS staff to programs and products and evaluate technical performance
- Maintain documentation for current products including technical, schedule, and costing information to support proposals and programs
- Work with the engineering organization, business development, programs, and manufacturing to develop a product roadmap that aligns to Millennium corporate objectives
- Work with hardware engineering director to develop, evaluate, and refine technical processes and standards for the EPS team.
- Supporting proposal efforts to define the initial scope of the team
- Work with engineering teams to transition development work to mature products.
- Work with engineering teams to work through discrepancies or design modifications
- Other job duties as assigned

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or Physics or Computer Science or Information Science or Math (or MS in those subject areas)
- 3+ years of experience with spacecraft solar array, electrical systems, or power systems analysis
- 3+ years of experience with electronics design in one or more of the following: Electrical Power Systems (EPS), and/or Command & Data Handling (C&DH), and/or Radio Frequency (RF), and/or Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GN&C)
- Experience in support of electrical power systems (electrical system design, electrical system verification, troubleshooting and/or support of anomaly resolution)
- Confident in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, and able to multi-task and manage expectations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language for global audiences

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

- Experience in qualifying space avionics
- 1+ years of experience in Program Management or IPT Leadership including cost, schedule and technical management
- Active TS or TS/SCI clearance

You will be working in missions with continuous changing requirements and expectations, typical of research & development (R&D) environments, and support transitioning missions into high-rate production.

We are looking for talented individuals who can manage complex interfaces and are willing to innovate. Talented individuals with strong foundations in cable & harness design and/or printed wiring board design, such as rigid printed circuit board or flex-based circuit board for our interconnect solutions.

Our engineers possess a strong foundation and knowledge of space vehicle, spacecraft, and/or payload logical architecture. From proposal creation to designing schematics to working hands on in the harness lab to watching a satellite being pushed onto a truck and taken to the launch site, you'll have a hand in it all.

Strong communication and organizational skills are critical to success in this position, along with the ability to build strong relationships, collaborate in a cross-functional environment, and utilize problem-solving skills to proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

- Development & analysis of EWIS architectures for multiple programs and bus configurations from mission and scientific payloads to experimental LEO small satellites to MEO constellations and GEO vehicles.
- Generation of subsystem or unit-to-unit electrical block diagrams.
- Definition and documentation of signal connectivity through cross functional coordination with system, subsystem, and product engineers for spacecraft harness or printed wiring board design.
- Selection of harness components and hardware, such connectors, backshells, and wire/cable based on applicable satellite mission requirements and industry standards.
- Performance of voltage drop analysis, power current derating, and capacitance circuit analysis for harness and printed wiring boards.
- Development and analysis of PCB designs determination board form factor, schematic capture, board stack determination, component placement and trace routing.
- Generation of rigid or rigid-flex PCB, PCB Assembly Drawings, fabrication & assembly output files (Geber, ODB , etc.)
- Generation harness schematic diagrams, wire diagrams, and wire harness assembly drawings.
- Preparation and generation of harness acceptance testing procedures including the development of harness test scripts for cable testers.
- Participation of critical programmatic milestones (Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, etc.) including the preparation of data packages, conduction of design reviews, and closure of any liens from the Milestone Decision Authority (MDA).
- Support assembly and testing of FlatSat and flight harnesses while reporting on cost and schedule performance.
- Capture of as-built, made on assembly mockup harness builds to produce 2D/3D formboards.
- Support with the creation, maintenance, or update of harness design, assembly, and test standards and command media.
- Support in proposals and business development efforts as the responsible engineering authority (REA).
- Management of external suppliers and subcontractors for harness and printed circuit board delivery.

As a Spacecraft Power Engineer, your systems will power Millennium satellites literally. Power engineers design most of the satellite electrical system, including overall electrical architecture, battery and solar array design, power conversion, and power distribution. They are involved from early conceptual design and development, during the detailed design phase, when components and satellites are being built and tested, and during on-orbit operations of the satellite. Whether it's performing low-level electrical circuit design, analyzing the worst-case energy balance of a satellite, or troubleshooting an anomaly of an on-orbit satellite, you will have a hand in it all.

This position's internal job code is Elect Design and Analysis. Our team is currently hiring for the level range of 3-4.

Position Responsibilities:

- Perform spacecraft Electrical Power Subsystem design and analysis at the spacecraft level, including interfaces with other subsystems

- Develop system, subsystem, and component level requirements derived from higher level requirements sets

- Develop spacecraft level power models to predict power loading and performance margins to support system design

- Support battery, solar array, and electronics design

- Brief design and analysis materials to program managers, customers, and/or sponsors

- Support system level functional and environmental testing

- Provide on-orbit support during mission operations and anomaly resolution

- Assist in proposal and business development efforts

- Coordinate efforts with consultants when necessary

- Manage cost and schedule for satellite EPS tasks

- Mentor junior engineers

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret security clearance is required post start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

- Bachelors Degree in electrical, computer, or other relevant engineering discipline

- 5 or more years experience in the design, development, analysis, implementation, testing, and/or operation of spacecraft power systems

- Experience modeling and simulating power system loads against input power

- Experience with and knowledge of solar arrays and Li-ion batteries, how they're designed, built, and tested

- Experience with power control and distribution electronics and architectures

- Experience working with engineers of multiple disciplines in the design and test of complex systems

- Experience writing and reviewing technical documents such as test procedures, design diagrams, and requirements specifications

- Experience testing electronics using tools such DMMs, oscilloscopes, PSUs, E-Loads, and custom test racks

- Knowledge of power circuit design fundamentals

- Excellent communication and presentation skills

- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

- Experience with high-reliability automotive or aerospace electronics

- Experience with mitigation of space environmental effects on electronics, solar arrays, and batteries

- Experience in MATLAB or other comparable software tool

- Experience with managing project budgets and schedules

- Experience with mentoring junior engineers

Job Summary As a Mission Analysis Engineer on the Mission Analysis Engineering Team, you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for all modeling, simulation, and analysis for a program, study, or proposal.

You will develop methods to simulate mission scenarios and assess end-to-end constellation capabilities; design and implement image processing, inertial tracking, state estimation, and optimal control algorithms for sensor systems; and provide tools and modeling platforms for validating system performance during on-orbit mission operations.

You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with technical and program leadership and will be responsible for program management activities, to ensure that high-quality work products are delivered on time and that the proposed mission solution meets the customer's need.

Department Information

The College of Computing was established in 1990 as the first such College at a public university and the second in the United States. Since that time, the college has grown into a world-class leader in research and education.   • Help students navigate public transport in Berlin.
  • Serve as a first point of contact at the student residence to deal with any emergencies in concert with the program director or other on-site faculty; be available to discuss with students any pressing personal issues they may have; keep the program director informed of student issues.
  • Liaise with staff at the student residence, students, and program director to address any concerns about student conduct, housing rules and student use of facilities/amenities with an aim to maintain positive relations and experience.
  • Work with the program director to organize program co- and extra-curricular activities at host institution, the student residence, and in the city.
  • Serve as the Teaching Assistant for two courses (CS 2340, CS 4400); serve as a backup instructor in the event of illness of the course instructor
  • Go with students to physician appointments or hospital/clinic visits as needed.
  • Organize and attend program social events.

Position requires the ability to pass a drug/alcohol pre-screening; may require working competently with dangerous materials and in a dangerous environment, such as around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high-pressure liquids and gas, and bot surfaces.
