The Office of Physician Scientist Education & Training (PSET) serves multiple trainees and stakeholders through various programming and activities across a pipeline of academic and career development in the College of Medicine. The PSET administrative assistant supports this initiative by performing a variety of tasks for/with PSET staff, faculty, and students that promote operational efficiency and help advance the goals and mission of physician scientist training at Ohio State. This position will provide anesthetic care under the direction of a qualified physician anesthesiologist. Gather patient data, perform patient evaluation, and administer and document the therapeutic plan that has been formulated for the anesthetic care of the patient. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Essential Functions
- Obtain an appropriate and accurate preanesthetic health history, perform an appropriate physical examination, and record pertinent data in an organized and legible manner.
- Obtain diagnostic laboratory and related studies as appropriate, such as drawing arterial and venous blood samples and any other necessary patient fluids.
- Insert and interpret data from invasive monitoring modalities such as arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheterization, and central venous lines, as delegated by the supervising physician anesthesiologist.
- Administer anesthetic agents and controlled substances under the direction of a supervising physician anesthesiologist. This includes, but not limited to, administration of induction agents, maintaining and altering anesthesia levels, administering adjunctive treatment and providing continuity of anesthetic care into and during the post-operative recovery period.
- Make post-anesthesia patient rounds by recording patient progress notes, compiling and recording case summaries, and by transcribing standing and specific orders.
- Evaluate and treat life-threatening situations, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, based on established protocols.
- Perform duties in intensive care units, pain clinics, and other settings, as appropriate.
- Perform administrative duties in an anesthesiology department.
- Participate in the clinical instruction of others.

Required Education
Master's Degree in Anesthesiologist Assistant program or related field.

OPPORTUNITY:
Hospital employed Urgent Care opportunity in West Union, OH. The facility consists of both Urgent Care and Family Practice and will be open 7 days/wk, 8am-8pm.
COMPENSATION:
- Option #1: Base salary of $284,835* (50%tile MGMA for those just completing training) with additional compensation for experience, guaranteed for 2 years. Can be switched to a wRVU production contract when exceeding target.
- Option #2: Base salary of $353,950* (75%tile MGMA) guaranteed for one year and then switched to a wRVU production contract.
2-year contract also includes:
- Vacation: 232 hours PTO. Additional 40 hours when producing 75%tile wRVUs
- CME/Books & Journals : 40 hours PTO and up to $5000
- Deferred compensation: 457b plan. Defer compensation up to IRS limit of $22,500 year before taxes. No matching.
- Retirement / Savings Plan: 403b plan. Defer compensation up to IRS limit of $23,000 year before taxes under age 50 and $30,500 for over age 50. SOMC matches dollar for dollar up to 2% of base pay.
- Moving Expense : $10,000 paid to moving company
- Malpractice Insurance Coverage: in a claims made insurance, in an amount of $2,000,000, per claim/$6,000,000, aggregate
- Health Insurance: provider pays small premium, deducted from paycheck
- Liquidated Damages : 70 mile and 2 year non-compete clause or liquidated damages of one year salary
- Bonus Incentives: excellent bonus incentives up to 10% of salary
- Medical School Loan Repayment: repay up to $200,000 ($25,000 per year for each year of service commitment)
- Sign on Bonus: 15% of base salary up to $100,000 (paid when contract signed and forgiven over 2-4 years)
- Residency Stipend: up to $25,000 (requires up to 2 year service commitment)
