Medical Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Driscoll Health System


Driscoll Health System’s Division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine is pleased to announce an outstanding leadership opportunity for a System Medical Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. This role will lead hospitalist medicine across Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi and our new Driscoll Children’s Hospital–Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg.


This is an important leadership role for a physician who wants to shape and elevate hospitalist services across our expanding pediatric health system. The system encompasses two full-service, freestanding tertiary care centers, each offering a dedicated Pediatric ICU, ER, a complete range of pediatric subspecialties and surgical services, and a pediatric residency program in each location. The recently opened Rio Grande Valley campus (2024) extends that high standard of care into a rapidly growing region and presents a rare opportunity to contribute to a newer program, including a brand-new Pediatric Residency Program that will welcome its first class in 2026.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Pediatric Hospitalist team, promoting a culture of excellence in patient care, professional development, and teamwork.
  • Oversee clinical operations, including scheduling, shift coverage, and resource allocation, to ensure continuous, high-quality care delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes and safety.
  • Monitor performance metrics, including clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency, and take action to address areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders to support organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain clinical practice by participating in hospitalist shifts (minimum of 8 per month) to stay connected with frontline care and team needs.


Qualifications:

  • Board-Certified Pediatrician with a minimum of 5 years of Pediatric Hospital Medicine experience.
  • Subspecialty certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred.
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

We have Special Education Teacher positions open in both our Kiefer School and Academy for Autism.

Kiefer School provides special education for children who experience difficulty in their home school due to severe emotional, behavioral and/or learning challenges. The goal is to improve a child’s ability to function within the public school setting by providing intensive intervention in small classrooms and a range of treatment and support services to the student and their family. Kiefer is an AdvancEd accredited, ISBE-approved private school.

Our Academy for Autism serves students ages 5-22 with an educational or medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through intervention with ISBE licensed educators and teacher assistants in each classroom and small class sizes, our students are able to find their pathway to success using innovative tools and techniques geared towards those with Autism.

A Special Education Teacher provides academic and behavioral instruction to students on a daily basis in a classroom of up to 10 students. They play a critical role in that they carry out the IEP requirements for each student in their daily programming. They are the main change agent for students’ academic and behavioral growth and serve as a role model. A Special Education Teacher must not only provide for the academic needs of students, but also for the social skill and behavioral needs as well.

You will be responsible for taking care of Pre and Post-operative highly acute cardiac patients, along with children who have cardiac medical needs in the intensive care unit. Key Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Under the supervision and direction of the Operations Manager, the Medical Office Site Supervisor is a working leader responsible for effective patient and work flow at the site. The Site Supervisor works with the Lead Physician to support the site’s business success, and acts as a bridge of communication between the RCPMS staff and the physicians.


Responsibilities:

  • The Site Supervisor, in collaboration with the Operations Manager, is responsible for overall site operations to include but not limited to: budgeting, human resources, space planning, training, and ensuring that sites meet their annual operational and budget goals.
  • Supervises staff including scheduling, monitoring time and attendance, performance management and evaluations while also being responsible for task functions.
  • oversees staff to ensure procedures and tasks are completed correctly and in accordance with RCPMS standards with specific focus on customer service and patient flow.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least two years in a supervisory position in a medical office setting or multiple site locations.
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to lead and motivate a team and successfully hold them accountable
  • Proven superb interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and approach customers, employees, physicians and management in a tactful manner.
  • Proven ability to assess and manage work flow using sound judgment and problem solving skills to identify areas for improvement and implement change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary NP for all new fetal intervention referrals, performing comprehensive clinical intakes and triage.
  • Provide and coordinate care for pregnant individuals carrying fetuses with congenital anomalies through prenatal evaluation, fetal intervention, and delivery planning.
  • Conduct history and physical examinations, obstetric assessments including cervical checks, pelvic exams, rupture of membrane assessments, and postpartum evaluations.
  • Facilitate diagnostic studies, interpret lab results, and prescribe medications in collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine and surgical teams.
  • Provide perioperative and postoperative support, including day-of-surgery assessment, intraoperative collaboration, PACU monitoring, inpatient rounding, and discharge facilitation.

  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine physicians during procedural visits and progressively assume responsibility for obstetric-related examinations and procedures.
  • Support and/or lead postpartum visits following fetal intervention or delivery.
  • Partner with program leadership to develop, refine, and evaluate clinical workflows that optimize care delivery and patient experience.
  • Provide education and mentorship through lectures, in-services, simulation, case reviews, and new team member onboarding.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program
Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of NP experience in obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, or a related perinatal specialty.
  • Past obstetrics/labor and delivery/postpartum experience required
