The Complex Care Medical-Surgical Unit (6800) is a 39-bed acute medical telemetry unit caring for a wide range of patients, including those with medical-surgical needs, orthopedic overflow, and ED holds. The unit supports both medically complex patients and those preparing for safe discharge. This unit is a great fit for nurses who thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity settings that require strong clinical judgment and collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).
Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.
Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.
Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.
Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States.
COMPLIANCE:
Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

The Center for Family Representation Inc. (CFR) is an award-winning, innovative law and policy organization that serves primarily Black and Brown families and youth in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island with an interdisciplinary legal defense model that serves more than 2400 clients every year. CFR was originally founded in 2002 to dramatically change the trajectory of indigent parents being prosecuted by the City's Administration for Children's Services (ACS). Our goal is to defend and protect our clients' rights, reduce the harm of family separation and prevent or minimize the time any child spends in the foster system.
CFR provides interdisciplinary family defense with a model that was unique at our founding and that is now being replicated nationally: we assign every client an attorney and a social work staff member, and teams have the support of parent advocates, who are parents with direct personal experience of having been investigated and prosecuted by ACS. CFR was the first agency in the country to integrate parents with lived experience into legal teams and now has 11 parent advocates working in all four of our family defense locations. CFR's Early Defense Practice represents parents during an ACS investigation (to avoid court involvement where possible). Our SCR Practice assists parents in clearing their names from state maltreatment records.
As an agency committed to securing justice for families, we built the Youth Defense Practice (YDP) to defend youth at risk of family separation through incarceration. YDP uses the same interdisciplinary model to represent youth being prosecuted in Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens in Juvenile Delinquency and Persons In Need of Supervision (PINS) proceedings in Family Court. CFR's Home for Good program provides legal and social work services to CFR clients in immigration, civil legal services and criminal defense matters, to afford clients an efficient and well-coordinated one-stop solution to a range of issues that threaten family stability.
Recognized as experts in our fields, we annually train over 500 practitioners in the city, state and around the country on strategies to promote family preservation and interdisciplinary representation, and we provide community based "Know Your Rights" presentations to parents, youth and service providers. We advocate at the city, state and national level for policies that reduce the harm of family separation, and promote parent engagement and justice for youth and families.
CFR has an immediate opening for a Staff Attorney in its Youth Defense Practice (YDP) in Manhattan.
Under the supervision and guidance of CFR's Youth Defense Supervisors, the Staff Attorney's core responsibilities will be to represent clients charged on juvenile delinquency (JD) matters and PINS petitions in Family Court .
The candidate will receive training on youth and family defense.
The candidate will work collaboratively with legal teams, composed of attorneys, social work staff, investigators, and paralegals (clients' legal teams may also involve staff from CFR's immigration or housing/public benefits units).
The position will be based out of the Manhattan family court.
The candidate should also expect to maintain new and evolving youth defense data in Case Management System and client legal notes; keep files up to date; keep additional data related to deliverables for private funders supporting the Youth Defense Practice, and/or to meet with prospective and current funders; and help to inform and grow CFR's Youth Defense Practice. This person may also participate in community based outreach and presentations for families whose youth are impacted by or are at risk of juvenile justice involvement.

Salary information:

OUR UNIT:
4300 is a 20 bed, medical surgical unit with the additional specialty of Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). This unit cares for general medical patients with varying conditions and any patient who requires peritoneal dialysis (PD) during their hospital admission. All RN & LPNs are required to become PD competent through our hospital training course. RRH reimburses or pays for this competency for our nurses.
Nursing staff are responsible for assessing patients, passing medications, and following provider orders for patient specific tasks. 4300 is a wonderful unit to start or continue your nursing career as you will see a variety of medical conditions, treatment plans, and nursing skills. We provide multidisciplinary support with daily care team rounding and geographically assigned teams.

The Cardiac Unit is an 18 bed cardiac nursing unit that provides care to cardiac patients and provides full telemetry monitoring. This unit is focused on caring for the cardiac patient after cardiac procedures such as Pacemaker Insertion, Angiograms, Cardiac Ablations, Angioplasty, and patients who require medicated cardiac infusions.
Our team of seasoned and experienced nurses provides mentorship and support to new staff, working together to drive critical thinking through complex medical situations. Many of our nurses start with us and transfer to higher acuity areas, feeling confident they have gained a solid foundation. This position will work directly with CPS staff to provide trauma-informed consultation, crisis intervention, and clinical guidance to ensure families receive timely access to appropriate mental health services.
The Clinical Partner will act as the primary liaison between CPS teams, community providers, and partner agencies to streamline referrals, improve coordination of care, and ensure a consistent mental health response for children and families.
This position requires flexibility, as some cases may require after-hours or weekend response depending on client needs or emergency situations.
Responsibilities: Β· Integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive approach into all clinical and collaborative activities.
Β· Serve as the designated mental health liaison between CPS, community partners, and external providers.
Β· Conduct brief clinical assessments and provide crisis intervention and psychoeducation to families.
Β· Support CPS staff with clinical consultation, case planning, and strategies to address complex family dynamics.
Β· Utilize Conx,PROMIS CMS Data systems Β· Facilitate warm handoffs and referrals to appropriate community mental health services, ensuring follow-up and coordination of care.
Β· Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals, outpatient clinics, and mental health partners to expand service access.
Β· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to provide mental health expertise and ensure care planning.
Β· Deliver mental health awareness and self-care training to CPS staff to enhance trauma-informed practice.
Β· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with program standards and confidentiality requirements.
Β· Respond to after-hours or weekend mental health needs as required by emergent situations or program demand.
Β· Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications: Required: β’ Masterβs degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field.
β’ Licensure or eligibility for licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent) required β’ At least three years of experience providing trauma-informed services to children and families.
β’ Demonstrated experience in crisis response and multidisciplinary collaboration β’ Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred: β’ Experience working within child welfare, or similar interdisciplinary setting.
β’ Knowledge of community mental health systems and evidence-based trauma treatment models.
