Position Summary

The Fund Development Director works with the Executive Director, department Directors, and Board of Directors for all aspects of fund development for both SEED and SEEDArts. The Fund Development Director provides leadership on fundraising initiatives including grants, government contracts, donations, corporate sponsorships, and special events. They will identify, organize, and manage fundraising activities with a focus on new opportunities to obtain increased support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.  


The Organization and Leadership

SEED generates approximately $12 Million in annual revenue and has a diverse portfolio of affordable apartment buildings and arts programs. SEED approaches our work with a seasoned team of senior leaders. We are a passionate, collegial group who find joy in our work and are committed to justice in our community. The Fund Development Director will serve on the staff leadership team, alongside the Executive Director, Director of Real Estate Development, Director of Asset and Property Management, Director of Finance, and SEEDArts Director.

SEED embraces hybrid and flexible work environments. This hybrid position is expected to work out of SEED’s offices in Southeast Seattle at least three days a week.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive long- and short-term fund development plan for both SEED and SEEDArts; Provide monthly reports to the Executive Director and the board that measure progress towards goals; Broaden SEED’s fundraising by developing approaches such as planned giving, solicitation of bequests, and endowment programs. 

Grants: Manage SEED’s overall grant seeking and reporting process; Build and maintain relationships with government funders and private foundations; Solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other staff and board for grant proposals; Lead grant writing and submission process; Administer all grant contracts and fulfill reporting and invoicing requirements.  

Individual and Corporate Giving: Create and implement strategies for donor development and cultivation to provide a sustainable funding base for SEED; Keep up-to-date on current fundraising programs and procedures used in the nonprofit sector; Develop strategies for solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other staff and board members as appropriate; Develop and implement all aspects of direct donor mailings, appeal letters, and other communications; Manage gift acknowledgements and maintain donor database; Grow SEED’s corporate sponsorship program.

Events: Plan and execute fall fundraiser, Envision, which raises vital unrestricted donations to support SEED’s overall mission, as well as smaller events throughout the year.


Minimum Qualifications

·      Five or more years’ fundraising experience, with a demonstrated track record of fund development growth. Experience with fund development for housing, economic development, arts, and/or in Southeast Seattle preferred. 

·      Demonstrated track record of crafting winning private and public funding proposals. 

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based donor databases (CRM). Experience with Little Green Light a plus. 

·      Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. 

·      Demonstrated track record of managing fundraising events.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Development will spearhead industrial projects through the full project lifecycle. From site selection and entitlements to completion and turnover. Beyond ground-up builds, this individual will oversee complex value-add repositioning and asset repurposing. We are seeking a seasoned professional with at least five (5) years of direct experience within an industrial general contractor, site contractor, or in-house development construction management team. The Director of Development will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. This role is site-intensive and requires presence on active project sites a minimum of four (4) days per week. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious go-getter to join a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial firm at the ground floor and play a primary role in scaling our development team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Leadership & Execution

Responsibilties:

A day in the life of a Executive Director, Development, Riverview Medical Center at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • In collaboration with the CHE and Senior Vice President of Healthcare Development, manage the affairs of the hospital foundation, including but not limited to: Developing, executing and monitoring a comprehensive development program; setting and achieving goals; legal, financial and general management; Board management and trustee recruitment.
  • Responsible for setting realistic, challenging goals and directing major gift activity aimed at meeting those goals within budget.
  • Develop and maintain senior level communication with CHE, Board of Trustees and Senior Vice President of Healthcare Development to align priorities, goals and strategies in the creation and implementation of a comprehensive development program for the hospital. Maintain high visibility with and participate in management groups and maintain a regular physical presence at the medical center. Ensure that fund raising strategies are consistent with hospital and network goals and work closely with leaders on collaborative projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of principal and major gift donors and prospects. Create and execute cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for donors and prospects. Work closely with affiliated foundations to ensure appropriate solicitation and minimal duplication in crossover catchment areas.
  • Provide leadership and support to the hospital foundation Board of Trustees. Recruit and orient new trustees, prepare annual budgets and plans, report regularly to board on progress against goals, motivate Board effectiveness and ensure the effective involvement of trustees with all hospital foundation activities. Effectively articulate strategy to the board, motivate trustees and direct board activities necessary to achieve results.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of the hospital foundation staff, helping to set and monitor goals, manage prospects and close gifts.
  • Oversee the coordination of activities with planned giving, annual fund, grants and strategic events departments for the successful implementation of related programs and achievement of goals in these areas.
  • Engage board members and friends to host awareness building and networking forums. Recruit hosts for and coordinate appropriate cultivation gatherings of prospects at various educational, social and hospitality events. Manage cultivation events and internal constituency giving subcommittees and oversee management.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of the hospital's leadership team to ensure that the hospital's philanthropy objectives are met through developing important relationships with physicians, nurses and staff to promote a culture of philanthropy and grateful patient prospect pipeline.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians and helps to engage grateful patients in fundraising for the hospital. Must maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Serve as needed on an on-call basis (including nights and weekends) for the Friends of the Foundation (FOF) program. Act as a liaison between program members, the Foundation, and clinicians and administrators, navigating the health care system on behalf of FOF program members, nurturing donor relationships, and providing continuity of a consistently high level of service. Express genuine compassion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • If applicable, participate in auxiliary meetings and events to help achieve compliance and to provide funding information, as well as secure auxiliary funding.

The Product Development organization within SharkNinja drives our global product roadmap from concept to shelf through the constant lens of the consumer. Responsibilities: 



  • Support the SharkNinja business onsite in our Needham, MA headquarters with the development of successful and profitable programs for key products to ensure continued growth of the product portfolio – you will assist in leading new product development (creation and management) of assigned product(s) from brainstorm phase through mass production, as well as partner with leadership to define the over-arching category direction to a team of product developers. You are responsible AND accountable for progressing, reporting on, and actioning your and your team’s deliverables. 


  • Define, develop, and iterate product specifications, marrying consumer wants/needs, white space in the market, and product technologies as the primary consumer advocate.? 


  • Take ownership of your assigned categories’ sales performance – partnering with others in the company to identify what products are working/not working; and recommend new product opportunities to fill those gaps.? 


  • Lead competitive product analyses, giving your business partners insight into how Shark stacks up against the competition - and maintaining a clear lens on how we can constantly improve to make Shark the consumer’s top choice every time.? 


  • ?Be the voice of our legacy product lines: share insights and learnings from consumers and the market with Product Developers focused on NPD to ensure critical features and feedback are incorporated into next generation products.? 


  • Partner with SharkNinja Testing and Quality organizations to define, develop, and manage quality and performance testing procedures.? 


  • ?Act as the product “expert” for cross-functional team member questions and concerns.?

    ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:


  • 5-7+ years of experience in product development, product marketing, marketing, human factors engineering, or a related field – preferable at a consumer goods company.? 


  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, Management, Engineering, or a combination of the above.? 


  • A “100% on” consumer-first perspective when it comes to introducing new products/processes or improving current products.? 


  • A mindset geared toward building relationships across multi-functional teams, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.?? 


  • COMMUNICATING FOR IMPACT, one of SharkNinja’s SUCCESS DRIVERS, is immensely critical in this role. Highly-effective communication skills – both written (presentation/email) and face-to-face (ability to host succinct, effective conversations that solve problems and ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management) – are required.? 


  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.? 


  • A desire to learn and grow in a passionate environment.? 


  • The ability to embrace transparency and shifting priorities while learning from each decision and focusing on the path forward.?

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
