About the Role
As our Cost Accounting / Finance Associate, youβll be a key member of a small, agile finance team focused on building robust cost systems and financial processes from the ground up. Youβll analyze production costs, partner with engineering and operations teams, and help us make smarter, data-driven decisions as we scale our manufacturing of cutting-edge marine systems.

What Youβll Do
- Build and maintain cost tracking systems for materials, labor, and overhead across UUV production and R&D programs.
- Analyze manufacturing variances, identify cost drivers, and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and engineering to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
- Support month-end close, accounting, reconciliations, and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) reporting.
- Assist with inventory valuation, BOM accuracy, Routings and cost roll-ups.
- Contribute to financial models for pricing, proposals, and project forecasting.
- Help design and implement scalable financial processes and ERP tools as the company grows.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and support audit preparation.
- Support processes related to DCAA compliance and government contracting as the company expands into defense programs.
What You Bring
- Education: Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, Master or MBA preferred.
- Experience: 3β5 years in cost accounting, finance or FP&A roles (preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, or hardware startup environment).
- Preferred: CPA certification (or working toward it) and familiarity with DCAA compliance including FAR/CAS rules a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and GAAP.
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling).
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, Routings and inventory control.

Summary: The Financial Analyst is responsible for cost accounting activities with an emphasis on inventory management and cost analysis. This role includes preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly reporting, as well as supporting FP&A activities such as budgeting and forecasting. While fixed asset accounting (currently in FAS, transitioning to SAP) is part of the role, it represents a smaller portion of responsibilities. The position also involves quarterly SOX compliance tasks, ad hoc projects, and additional recurring responsibilities as time permits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and analyze inventory cost records and ensure accuracy of cost accounting processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory and costing activities.
- Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
- Prepare various monthly inventory and costing reports.
- Perform job costing reporting and analysis, including weekly job closings and variance analysis.
- Coordinate annual physical inventories at all sites and support year-end inventory standards revision.
- Support cycle count processes by monitoring variances, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring inventory accuracy.
- Perform quarterly LIFO and obsolete/slow-moving inventory reporting and analysis.
- Support FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory and costing.
- Perform quarterly SOX compliance activities, including documentation, testing, and reporting for relevant controls.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations in FAS (transitioning to SAP).

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.

Overall Responsibilities
- Manage operational workflows for model deployments, updates, and versioning across GCP, Azure, and AWS.
- Monitor model performance metrics: latency, throughput, error rates, token usage, and inference quality
- Track model drift, accuracy degradation, and performance anomalies - escalating to engineering as needed.

Manufacturing Manager
Our Manufacturing Operations Manager directs, maintains, and oversees execution of assembly, manufacturing, and production activities for the manufacturing plant which includes safety, yield, productivity, labor, cost, production schedule, quality, continuous process improvements to meet established business goals.
