DEFINITION


Under direct supervision (Accounting Technician I) to general supervision (Accounting Technician II), performs a variety of technical accounting duties is support of a department's accounting functions including receiving, reviewing, entering, auditing, and processing accounts receivable and payable transactions; performs financial record keeping and reporting duties in support of assigned accounting system and/or function; prepares, processes, maintains, and verifies financial/accounting and statistical documents and records; prepares various reports, statements, and special projects; provides information and assistance to the general public and City departments; maintains files and records; and performs related duties as assigned.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS


Accounting Technician I:This is the entry level classification in the Accounting Technician series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform routine technical accounting duties involved in performing financial record keeping and fiscal reporting duties. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult. Close supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates skill to perform the work independently. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of positions at the II-level but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise.


Accounting Technician II: This is the journey level classification in the Accounting Technician series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the I-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.


Positions in the Accounting Technician class series are flexibly staffed and positions at the II-level are normally filled by advancement from the next lower level upon management approval, after gaining the knowledge, skill, and experience which meet the qualifications for and after demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class, subject to budgetary funds.

What You Will Do

Summary

The Massage Therapist is responsible for providing professional, therapeutic massage and body treatments to members and guests in a safe, welcoming, and relaxing environment. This role ensures exceptional guest service while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and confidentiality. 


Essential Functions

  

Client Consultation & Treatment

  • Conduct thorough consultations to understand each guest’s needs, health history, concerns, and treatment preferences.
  • Provide a variety of massage services (e.g., Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, and specialty treatments) tailored to individual guest goals.
  • Adapt techniques and pressure appropriately to ensure safety, comfort, and effectiveness.
  • Educate guests on the benefits of treatments and recommend personalized wellness plans, enhancements, or follow-up services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential treatment records in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

Spa Environment & Treatment Room Excellence

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and tranquil treatment room that reflects the highest spa standards.
  • Ensure proper sanitization of equipment, tools, and linens in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Restock supplies and products to ensure readiness for each appointment.
  • Uphold a peaceful and professional atmosphere throughout fitness center.

Guest Interaction & Service Excellence

  • Provide warm, attentive, and professional service during every guest interaction.
  • Anticipate guest needs and exceed expectations through thoughtful, personalized care.
  • Handle guests concerns or special requests with discretion and professionalism.
  • Promote additional spa services and wellness programs when appropriate to enhance the guest experience.

Team Collaboration & Compliance

  • Work collaboratively with fitness colleagues, and leadership to ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing education to remain current on techniques, products, and industry trends.
  • Comply with all state licensing requirements and company policies.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, sanitation, and operational standards to maintain a secure environment for guests and staff.


Required Qualifications

  • Current Arizona Massage Therapy license and CPR certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a luxury spa or resort environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Swedish, Therapeutic/Deep Tissue, Reflexology, and Hot Stone modalities.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism in guest interactions.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and a commitment to service excellence.
  • Passion for wellness with the physical stamina to perform multiple treatments per shift. 


Work Environment

  • Position is located within the spa treatment room inside a fitness center in a private residential community in North Scottsdale. The environment is non-smoking and wellness-focused, with moderate activity levels typical of a fitness facility.
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands and arms to perform massage techniques for extended periods. Requires the ability to kneel, crouch, and maintain various body positions during treatments.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift up to 25–30 lbs., move treatment tables or equipment as needed, and safely handle spa supplies and linens.
  • The employee may occasionally be exposed to humid conditions, cleaning agents, or fitness-related noise. The overall noise level is typically moderate.
