We are seeking an individual who desires a career in gage calibration. The ideal candidate would have formal calibration training, such as military PMEL, etc., and have at least 3 years military calibration lab experience or 5 years of commercial calibration lab experience.
We desire someone with formal training in electronics, and who can become a "jack-of-all-trades" technician, utilizing strong electronics and mechanical aptitudes. We will consider training a strong candidate with a related background.
Northstar Calibration, Inc. is an ISO 17025 accredited commercial calibration laboratory, located in Owatonna, MN. We are growing and we need additional help to serve our customers. Work is performed in our accredited laboratory in Owatonna, as well as on-site at our customers' manufacturing locations throughout southern Minnesota and the upper Midwest.
Key Responsibilities:
The Calibration Technician provides gage calibration, repair, & servicing on our customers' gaging and measuring devices, including electronic, torque, force, pressure, mass, and dimensional gages. Work includes repairing of dimensional, mechanical, and/or electronic instruments, as well as on-site field service requiring some travel.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. Formal calibration training, military PMEL or equivalent preferred; strong electronics and mechanical aptitudes. (required)
2. Hands-on electronics calibration experience, such as calibrations of O-scopes, HiPot, counters, function generators, power supplies, meters, thermocouples, etc. (required)

Description
Are you looking for your next career move? We are currently looking for Web Second Press Operators to join the Mittera family where ideas are valued and internal mobility is promoted! Web Second Press Operators assist with the set up and operation of a printing press in coordination with the Press Operator and assists crew members on the press, ensuring each job is run according to customer specifications and meeting internal and external deadlines; maintains quality control and reduces waste or press downtime. Follows departmental regulations and procedures to process customer jobs through the Department on a timely basis and within specified quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain C700 web presses and all auxiliary equipment
* Interprets color bars, star targets, side guide marks and slur indicators to control print quality
* Responsible for promoting, enforcing and sustaining safety and look for ways to improve the operation
* Programs correct color standards into CPC to make needed color adjustments
* Achieves color OK (match/approval) to proofs
* Facilitate teamwork on crews and between shifts
* Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed
* Performs routine and preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment
* Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
* 3 - 5+ years of experience as a multicolor web press operator preferred
* Ability to lead and foster growth and development on the team
* Knowledgeable of press set-up and maintenance procedures
* Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
* Has basic computer skills
* Must be self-motivated, reliable, and quality, safety oriented

Mission :Operates independently and cooperates with other Central Metrology Technicians to guarantee precision, dependability, and adherence to established standards for calibrations within Central Metrology Lab Scope.
Calibration: Check, analyze, and recalibrate measurement devices based on established criteria, maintaining accurate readings.
Documentation: Maintain clear, detailed logs of laboratory standards, calibration procedures, test findings, and maintenance carried out to follow quality management systems and external guidelines (e.g., ISO 17025).
Process improvement: Partner with fellow Central Metrology Technicians and Internal Business Partners to advance metrology practices and calibration protocols, spot opportunities for progress, and carry out solutions.
Training: Provide training and guidance as needed to other technicians and internal business partners on metrology and calibration techniques and standard methodologies.
Troubleshooting: Detect and address inconsistencies in process and procedures by conducting root cause analysis.
Works autonomously and collaboratively with other Central Metrology Technicians to ensure precision, reliability, and conformity to defined standards for calibrations within the Central Metrology Lab Scope.
Calibration: Assess, test, and calibrate measurement devices following established standards, maintaining accurate readings.
Documentation: Carefully and thoroughly record all laboratory standards, calibration processes, test outcomes, and maintenance to meet quality management systems and external criteria (e.g., ISO 17025).
Process improvement: Work alongside other Central Metrology Technicians and Internal Business Partners to advance metrology techniques and calibration procedures, detect areas needing improvement, and apply solutions.
Training: Deliver instruction and mentorship as required to other technicians and internal business partners regarding metrology and calibration techniques and standard processes.
Troubleshooting: Detect and address inconsistencies in processes and procedures by conducting root cause analysis.
Key encouraged achievementsAdhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform calibrations on a wide range of measuring devices using precision measuring instruments and software, ensuring environmental controls in the lab are adequate before performing calibrations. Detect and communicate any measurement/calibration nonconformities to all interested parties.
Record and document test results, maintenance performed, and any deviations or non-conformities in calibration logs, records, and certificates, ensuring traceability and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
Coordinate and arrange the servicing of devices alongside other Central Metrology Technicians to enhance lab operational efficiency. Use organizational and time management abilities to handle workloads and schedules efficiently.
Assist in the development and/or update of calibration procedures and documentation in accordance with National, International, or Industry Standards.
Provide technical aid and advice to colleagues and Internal Business Partners.
Technical Skills:> Perform calibration of various parameters of gauge types, as approved by procedure training, evidence of competency, and maintaining individual uncertainties in alignment with other calibration technicians
- Dimensional - Hand tools, Hard gauges, Surface Plate Flatness etc.
- Mechanical- Pressure, Vacuum, and Torque
- Electrical - Multimeters, Thermocouples and RTD's
- Chemical - Refractometers, pH Meters, and Conductivity meters etc.
- Sound level meters, Belt tensioners etc.
- Vision Systems
- Coordinate-measuring machine (CMM)
> Strong knowledge of measurement science (metrology)
- Understand contributors and variables that influence the development of an uncertainty budget.
> Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics and diagrams
> Knowledge of electronics and engineering principlesEngage in Intra-laboratory and external laboratory Proficiency tests as needed. Not passing Proficiency tests may lead to corrective or preventative measures, including remedial training and/or restriction from calibrating certain types of gauges.
Soft Skills:Attention to detail: Meticulous and precise, with a focus on accuracy.
Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
Computer skills: Proficiency with calibration software and other computer-based test equipment
Communication: Ability to clearly communicate technical information and work effectively in a team. Collaborate with Plants regarding processes, procedures, and corrective/preventative actions, when gauges are found to be out of tolerance.
Understanding of standards: Experience with quality and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 17025, ISO 9001)
Associate degree or Certificate from a technical school or military training
Measurement & Metrology / Machine Tool Technology / CalibrationASQ Certified Calibration Technician Certification is a plus.

Join us in advancing our mission to extend lives and expand possibilities.Your Role:The Metrology / Calibration Technician is responsible for managing all aspects of the calibration program at the Twin Cities Sites.This includes helping other associates with gauging needs and requests.Also maintaining the calibration records, documentation, and local work instructions to ensure compliance to Vantive and industry standards.This position also includes the calibration of equipment.What you'll be doing:Apply measurement science to manage calibration of measurement and test equipment in various areas: electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, mechanical, environmental, etc., based on analysis of measurement considerations, desired metrological characteristics and applicable authoritative standards.Collaborate with R&D Engineers and Quality to establish calibration specifications.Represent the calibration program perspective for measurement and process.Coordinate internal stakeholders and external calibration provider to plan and schedule onsite and offsite calibrations.Responsible for ensuring the use of approved suppliers, obtaining quotes, and creating PO's as necessary.Calibration of Metrology equipment.Coordinate calibration scheduling, equipment implementation to meet established schedules.Maintain and update the calibration management system with current equipment status, location, and ensuring equipment is in a state of control.Check out calibrated equipment to end users.Perform technical approval of supplier calibration certificates, reviewing data and confirming approved ranges are calibrated, and accuracy met, before returning to service.Initiate and track deviation reports for instrument changes and out of tolerance conditions.Assist with investigations as needed.Develop and maintain local Twin Cities sites calibration procedures.Participate as calibration SME in audits, providing process support and documentation.
Responsible for routine data collection, metrological reliability analysis, and metrics reporting.Provide remote support to Global Metrology.
Perform review of calibration work, supplier certificates, or validation documents.What you'll bring:Bachelors or Associates Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent with 6+ years' experience in a calibration related field.Knowledge of essential Metrology principles.Practicing knowledge of measurement science or equipment validation.Experience in an FDA regulated environment.Strong knowledge of measurement science and Metrology systems.Familiarity with Calibration Software Databases.Experience in FDA regulated environment.Working knowledge of Metrology-related standards (ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, etc.) and industry standards (CFR, ISO 13485).Ability to work effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.Ability to manage the calibration program independently.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Vantive is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace.

The estimated base salary for this position is $64,000
- $90,000 annually.
The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position.
We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change.
Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
