Construction Locator
Construction Locators perform tasks involving physical labor at utility construction and maintenance projects. The position will work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Key Roles:
- Pre-Bore Planning
- Reading & Comprehending Construction Drawings
- Equipment Setup and Calibration
- Support Tasks
- Directional Drill Locating
Essential Job Functions:
- All phases of underground construction including, but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment.
- Work as a part of a crew/drive Crew Truck to job sites for underground utility operations.
- Assist as required in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Crew leader.
- Operate construction equipment.
- Handle physically demanding construction duties.
- Assist team members in placing underground conduit, manual labor and shovel work.
- Prior underground construction and directional drilling experience is a plus.
- Ability to load and unload equipment (backhoe, steel plates, excavators, loaders, etc.)
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- All work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.
- Must be willing to follow all DOT requirements in addition to company requirements (inspections, drivers log, reports, etc.).
- Current medical DOT card.
- Good driving record.
- Able to work long hours.
- Have reliable transportation.
Education and Experience:
- MUST have Valid Class A CDL Drivers' license, with Tanker Endorsement
- Experience in the construction industry (experience in underground construction preferred).
- OSHA-10 certification preferred.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, dig, reach and crawl while performing work.
- Must be able to lift, carry and place heavy objects up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Must be able to work in small/confined areas.
- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.
