Position Summary

The Boston Foundation is seeking to strengthen its impact investment program and expand its use of impact investing as a powerful tool for driving positive impact in Greater Boston. This is a cross-functional role, reporting to the Vice President & Chief Program Officer and working in close collaboration with the Senior Director, Impact Investing and the Chief Financial Officer.


Essential Functions

  • Investment Research & Analysis
  • Support Due Diligence on Mission First Pool (MFP) opportunities;
  • Support sector level (CDFI and Impact Funds) research;
  • Assist Philanthropy Group with ad hoc requests from DAF holders to act as thought partners and research specific impact investment opportunities; and
  • Reporting and Presentations
  • Track impact measurement metrics;
  • Collect and organize data for required reporting for the Recoverable Grants program, Business Equity Fund, Catalyst Pool and the Mission First Pool; and
  • Support the Impact Investments Team in creation of presentations.
  • Field Building
  • Support the Philanthropy Group in meetings with DAF holders to discuss co-investment opportunities and act as a thought partner; and
  • Participate as a TBF speaker and panelist to expand the field of impact investing and the TBF brand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; and
  • 2-3 years relevant work experience in consulting or professional financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business models;
  • Proficiency in financial modeling to support debt and equity investment analysis;
  • Proficiency creating presentations;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience with legal concepts associated with private investing;
  • Familiarity with affordable housing trends and investment considerations;
  • Familiarity with CDFIs and other intermediaries such as Impact Investing Funds;
  • Understanding of and commitment to the Foundation’s mission;
  • Demonstrated interest and analytical skills used to learn about impact investing broadly and be part of building this powerful tool with The Boston Foundation;
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate simultaneous, sometimes competing tasks; and
  • Willing/able to support colleagues in a wide range of activities to further TBF’s vision to advance equity in Greater Boston.

This is a pivotal executive role for a leader who operates at the intersection of people, process, and technology, and who understands that successful Adobe transformations are not won in architecture diagrams but with operating models, governance, adoption, and executive alignment.

The Executive Director, Adobe Business Consulting serves as empate’s senior client advisor and internal standard‑bearer for business transformation across Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Commerce, and the Adobe vurder content supply chain. You will lead complex, multi‑year client programs while simultaneously building the practice itself by defining our point of view, methodology, talent model, and role in the market.

In this role, the Tax Managing Director, State and Local Taxation will be charged with marketing, networking and business development within their area of experience and specialization and maintaining key client relationships. Additionally, the Tax Managing Director, State and Local Taxation is a critical part of the office’s / region’s Tax Services leadership team, and will act as a source for guidance on complex tax questions and issues.

Job Duties:

  • Research
    • Identifies all situations when research is necessary, and conducts appropriate investigation on identified topics
    • Analyzes researched facts and the sources utilized
    • Prepares studies of tax implications and outlines alternative courses of action to clients
    • Partners with other Core Tax and Specialized Tax Services professionals to resolve complex and contentious matters
  • Tax Compliance
    • Ensures clients comply with applicable authorities while identifying options for minimizing the client’s tax and reporting burdens
    • Manages engagements to ensure engagement metrics are achieved
    • Collaborates with Business Development team and other strategic parties to drive sales tax compliance service offerings
  • Tax Consulting
    • Handles all inquiries from federal and state agencies regarding all tax issues and questions

  • Tax Controversy
    • Represents clients before any tax authority on contested issues

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the day-to-day workload of STS SALT Senior Managers, Managers and Staff on assigned engagements, and reviews work product
  • Ensures STS SALT Senior Managers, Managers and Staff are trained on all relevant tax software
  • Evaluates the performance of STS SALT Senior Managers, Managers and Staff, and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
  • Delivers periodic performance feedback, and completes performance evaluations for STS SALT Senior Managers, Managers and Staff
  • Acts as Career Advisor to STS SALT Senior Managers, Managers and Staff, as appropriate

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other relevant field required
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or other relevant field preferred
  • Juris Doctorate preferred

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of prior SALT experience required
  • Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis required
  • Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions high preferred
  • Prior experience with corporate taxation, consolidations and partnerships preferred

License/Certifications:
