Himax Technologies is on the lookout for an experienced Pixel Design Engineer to join our Advanced R&D team in Irvine, California. Responsibilities:

This role will participate in new pixel designs and improvements of existing pixels by working closely with other design teams. This position is responsible primarily for pixel layouts including front-end, back-end and optical structure.

> Skillful and creative on optimizing pixel layout based on:

  • Process flow information
  • Layout design rules
  • Pixel timing constraints and noise analysis
  • Signal interferences analysis inferred by Capacitance extractions

> Pixel array composition, including:

  • Implementing the floorplan of a pixel array
  • DRC and LVS verifications on whole pixel array
  • The layouts of dark pixel reference and other special pixels
  • Interfaces with readout and pixel driver circuits
  • Optical structure extensions beyond the active array boundaries

> Optical Design:

  • Optimize optical structure layout shifts to accommodate image height dependent module lens CRAs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years or Master's degree with 7+ years of hands-on experience with CIS pixel layout
  • Masterful on IC layout related EDA tools and layout parasitic capacitance extraction EDA tools
  • Knowledgeable about typical physics, basic timing and operation principles of CIS pixel
  • Medium level programming skills.


Preferred Experience:

  • Background is Electrical Engineering, Physics or Photonics.
  • Familiar with CMOS image sensor process integration, device physics and optics are good pluses.


Salary Range

  • $120,000- $180,000 (DOE)

  • Guide Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation. 

  • Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule. 

  • Present reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff. 


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior 
    relevant experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, and/or test experience with linear converters. 

  • Experience with any of the following non-isolated converter topologies:  buck, boost, buck-boost.    

  • Experience with design, analysis, and test with analog electronic design and analysis, including FET, BJT, and/or Op-amp circuits. 

 

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Lab experience specific to power electronics and/or controls electronics 

  • Demonstrated use of software tools for electrical circuit simulation and/or printed circuit board layout   

  • Demonstrated ability to document designs and circuit performance verification 

  • Understanding of fundamental power conversion concepts, components, and techniques 

  • Demonstrated understanding of linear controls and motor drive techniques. 

  • Basic understanding of commonly used power converter and/or motor drive control schemes
