Level 1 Fabricator
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Level 1 Fabricator Supports the fabrication of structural steel components including beams, columns, and plates in a production shop environment. This entry level role focuses on safe work practices, learning fabrication processes, and assisting experienced fabricators and welders with steel preparation and assembly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the fabrication of structural steel components such as beams, columns and base plates
- Measure, mark, and prepare structural steel using tape measures, squares, and calipers
- Perform cutting, grinding, beveling, cleaning, and deburring of steel materials
- Operate basic shop equipment including band saws, drill presses, grinders, and forklifts
- Read and follow shop drawings and work instructions with guidance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and PPE requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED ( or equivalent experience)
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16\" and calipers
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn structural steel fabrication
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physical work in a shop environment
- Reliable attendance and ability to work as a part of a team
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Indoor industrial fabrication shop
- Exposure to noise, sparks, fumes, dust, welding arcs, and heavy steel materials
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
