Key Responsibilities:

As an AMSA at the VA, you will:

- Schedule Appointments: Efficiently coordinate, schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments and consults, ensuring our veterans receive timely and appropriate care.

- Patient Management: Monitor the electronic wait list, prepare for clinic visits, and manage both inpatient and outpatient appointments within your area of responsibility.

- Accurate Record-Keeping: Ensure encounter forms are completed to obtain the appropriate workload credit, and verify and update essential patient demographics and insurance information.

Skills and Knowledge

You will leverage your practical knowledge of computerized data entry and information processing systems, along with essential software used in patient care. Primary Duties

- Clerical and Administrative Support: Serve as a key support figure for multiple clinical departments, providing both clerical and administrative assistance.

- Work Monitoring: Track the status and progress of work, making necessary day-to-day adjustments per established priorities, and seeking guidance from supervisors as needed.

- Training: Offer on-the-job training to new employees, ensuring they are well-versed in established procedures and practices.

- Information Dissemination: Provide accurate and timely information via telephone and in person to the general public, professional staff, and both civilian and military personnel regarding appointments and other inquiries.

Position Overview

Requirements
β€’ Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
β€’ Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
β€’ Current CPR certification
β€’ Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures

Additional state specific requirements:

Position Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) is responsible for providing and documenting skilled nursing care, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with the developed care plan and physicians orders for each individual patient while adhering to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.

Essential Job Functions
β€’ Responsible for the delivery and coordination of quality patient care in compliance with physician orders.

β€’ Documents all activities, assessments, nursing actions, responses and coordination of care in a timely manner whenever care is delivered.
β€’ Participate, implement and update the nursing care plan.
β€’ Takes appropriate nursing action based on assessment and achieves expected outcomes.
β€’ Recognizes changes in patient needs and responses requiring intervention and implements care to prevent risk or reduce risk.
β€’ Accepts responsibility for personal and professional accountability by complying with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies and the Nurse Practice Act.
β€’ Provide care utilizing infection control measures that protect both the staff and the patient according to OSHA standards.
β€’ Educates the patient and family regarding the disease process, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies, and in meeting the patient’s nursing needs.
β€’ Maintain knowledge of competencies related to the nursing profession by participating in educational programs, continued education units, internal learning management skills and skill evaluations.

Requirements
β€’ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
β€’ Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of practice
β€’ Current CPR certification
β€’ Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
Additional state specific requirements:
β€’ South Carolina – One (1) year of pediatrics experience
β€’ California – One (1) year of experience required working under current nursing license
β€’ Louisiana – One (1) year of experience required working as a licensed nurse
β€’ Continuing Education as required by state

Preferences
β€’ Six (6) months of recent experience as a Licensed Nurse in a clinical care setting
β€’ Home health experience
