A NC community college is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Finance to join their leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the College’s Business Office, including the preparation of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of a robust system of accounting records, and the implementation of comprehensive controls and budgets. The Perlmutter Lab at UC Berkeley is seeking applications for an Assistant Researcher that specializes in the analysis of wide-field imaging and spectroscopic data from ground-based (e.g., Subaru/HSC) and space-based observatories (e.g., HST, JWST, and the recently announced Lazuli), as well as the design and planning of related observing programs.

The Assistant Researcher will be charged with performing independent research aimed at improving the precision and accuracy of observational cosmology experiments, namely those that rely on measuring luminosity distance with redshift, and particularly measurements of the expansion rate. The candidate will lead efforts to develop and/or adapt cutting-edge image analysis and statistical techniques for the purpose of improving the precision of such luminosity distance cosmology experiments, with a lean toward space-based datasets.

We expect the candidate to play a leadership role in this research, which is expected to require a small to mid-size research effort involving grad students and/or postdocs, and ideally multiple funding sources. They will present their research at inter/national conferences and publish work in peer-reviewed journals, either as lead author or in a mentorship role to others.

The Assistant Researcher's routes of inquiry would help advance key UC Berkeley cosmology initiatives, in part by bringing together a range of experts who can apply novel advanced statistical techniques not typically deployed in the field.

SUMMARY: To prepare and stage press or laminator jobs. Lead shift Prepress personnel on shift tasks and day-to-day operations. Retrieve daily production schedule that identifies which job will run, quantities, priorities, etc. Interpret and act upon information. Lead Prepress personnel are used in any capacity needed to stage items at any machine. They may retrieve and prepare cylinders for press run and after the press run, clean the cylinders and store them. All these functions must be performed in the safest, most effective and efficient manner while adhering to established SOP's and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Facilitate on the job training and instruction for team members on the correct use of tools and equipment to ensure proper safety and operating procedures are followed.
• Actively participate and embrace in the SPOT Safety Program fundamentals and adhere to all safety guidelines and rules to aid APC's efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate.
• Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in developing, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures and or training documentation.
• Print and understand each job's Job Jacket, Print Specification, and Manufacturing Specification and take to the press.

• Return the units to prepress, remove the parts, clean up the cylinders, and store them back into the storage system after a job has run.
• Aid on press set-ups as needed. Assist miscellaneous housekeeping and cleaning responsibilities.
• Complete required reports and paperwork. Use a computer terminal.
• Perform required cleaning tasks - some daily, weekly or monthly requirements.
• Obtain Power Industrial Truck license(s).
• Load/unload trucks at shipping dock.

• 30% Prepares various financial data associated with refunds, invoices, recoupments, adjustments, cash disbursements, deposits, check voids and reissues, disputes, correspondence, or other data in support of the finance or accounting function. Ensures data is complete, accurate, and organized for processing. Provides supervisor with daily, weekly, and/or monthly summary reports of accounting activities for the position.
  
• 25% Completes moderately difficult research using financial reporting systems, files, and other means to identify errors such as overpayments or misapplication of funds. Resolves routine questions and problems, referring complex issues to higher levels.

Overview:

The Finance and Accounting Intern (Intern) will be part of a collaborative team in a Shared Finance Services (SFS) environment. The Intern will be responsible for ensuring the completion and accuracy of accounting and finance functions of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Ideal candidates will commit to a minimum of thirteen (13) weeks in an Intern position. Preferred candidates should be currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program to join the team. The Intern will be immersed in day-to-day work activity in one of the above accounting disciplines over the term of the internship AND will attend twice-weekly half-day educational workshops with leaders in other accounting and business administrative disciplines to develop a comprehensive knowledge of accounting, finance and general business practices within Six Flags.

Accounting Disciplines:

The intern will have the opportunity to immerse in day-to-day work activity in one of these disciplines and will have the added benefit of learning and gaining skills in the other disciplines through the weekly workshops:

• Accounts Payable
  • Assist in processing weekly Accounts Payable disbursements.
  • Review vendor statements for accuracy.
• Accounts Receivable
  • Develop an understanding of how to retrieve information from a lockbox to apply payments to correct customer or account.
  • Assist in reconciling designated Accounts Receivable balance sheet accounts.
  • Review and resolve discrepancies in an Accounts Receivable Aging report.
• Business Transformation
  • Work with the Accounting Information Systems (AIS) team and learn about the financial systems used at Six Flags.
  • Assist the Business Transformation team in gathering data for report generation and decision making.
  • Practical experience in this area will lend visibility to participating in projects and fostering the future vision of the financial systems to be used.
• Financial Accounting
  • Work with staff accountants, supervisors, and managers to assist in writing journal vouchers, reconciling general ledger accounts and observing the relations between accounting and Park level operational departments.
• Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Take a deep dive into how the Six Flags budget is developed and then follow how this team connects with Park Leaders in trend analysis and forecasting.
  • Assist in ad-hoc financial analysis to help Park leaders make informed strategic decisions.
• Capital and Project Accounting
  • Learn how capital investment projects and budgets are developed, how this team tracks adherence to budget and how construction in progress (CIP) is transacted to a fixed asset in the general ledger.
• Payroll
  • Observe how multi-state/multi-national payroll is compiled and completed in a timely manner for thousands of associates and how associated government reports are completed and filed.
  • See how Park teams monitor and approve associate work time, how the Workforce Management team assists in scheduling and maximizing labor productivity and how a partnership with Human Resources is critical in compliance.
• Revenue Accounting
  • Become proficient in completing the daily revenue accounting process by importing and validating data between Point of Sale (POS) systems and accounting systems.
  • Compile, review, and distribute daily operational reports to park leadership.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of assigned Revenue balance sheet accounts.
• Treasury
  • Assist in identifying and reducing fraud related to Treasury Services where response time is critical and must be managed immediately or assist in daily credit card reconciliation and balancing to the bank statement and internal systems, assist with investigating all discrepancies and preparing journal vouchers.

Coastal Protection Engineering LLC (CPE), a multidisciplined coastal consulting firm with a national presence and a growing coastal engineering practice, is seeking a Coastal Numerical Modeler to join our Boca Raton, FL office. This position offers exceptional growth and career development opportunities for a motivated professional passionate about coastal modeling and engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of experienced coastal engineers and scientists on numerical modeling studies of coastal processes, including beach and dune restoration, inlet management, coastal resiliency, and coastal flooding projects throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform numerical modeling in support of coastal processes (Waves, flows, sediment transport, coastal morphology change) in support of coastal engineering projects such as beach dune and marsh restoration, coastal structures, inlet management, coastal resiliency and coastal flooding.
• Coordinate and establish effective working relationships with team members, project managers, and clients.
• Conduct numerical modeling studies from start to finish including pre-processing data, creating modeling grids, developing and implement boundary conditions, conducting numerical model calibration, project scenario simulations, post processing results, creation of modeling graphics and videos and preparation of final deliverables including technical report and power point presentations.
• Participate in project decisions regarding numerical modeling scope and scheduling.
• Prepare various project documents including reports, technical memorandums and technical papers to be published in specialized journals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Oceanography or related fields.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with numerical modeling of coastal and estuarine systems, including coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and morphology change, utilizing Delft3D and XBeach modelling suites.
• Experience with Matlab programming, specifically development of pre- and post-processing scripts for Delft3D applications.
• Experience with wave and tide schematization for long-term morphology change simulations of beaches and inlets.
• Willingness and availability to travel to other offices and client sites on occasion.
• Strong background in coastal processes.
• Proficient English communication skills (oral and written).
• Be able to legally work in the USA.

Additional Desired Qualifications

The following additional qualifications are not mandatory but will be viewed favorably:

• Experience with other coastal numerical model software such as the SMC (USACE), SMS (IHE-Cantabria), Genesis, SBEACH, C-Shore, Bouss2D, Beach-Fx, Fun Wave, Mike21, Litpack, ADCIRC, SLOSH, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM/XPSWMM.
• Experience with other programming languages such as Python and C++.
• Experience with CAD and GIS.
• Experience with stormwater hydrology and hydrologic modeling.
• Experience modeling coastal flooding.
• Experience with operational forecasts and real time data assimilation by models.
• Experience with metocean data collection in the field.
• Experience preparing project scope and fee proposals
• Publications Coastal Engineering Journals and Presentation in National and International Coastal Conferences.
