Title: Math and Enrichment Academic Specialist
Position Description:
Brawerman East Elementary School is seeking an experienced teacher to anchor the teaching of Mathematics for Grades 5 and 6, and will provide enrichment and personalized instruction for children in all grades who are high-achievers and require extension and enrichment in Math and other subjects.
Successful candidates should be prepared to introduce cutting-edge, best practices in all areas of the math curriculum and provide intervention and support for students as well as opportunities for extension and enrichment within the math program and other curricular areas. They should be able to develop and curate resources to aid teachers in research-based teaching practices for high-achieving students, provide ongoing support and professional development for teachers, and provide small group and individualized instruction for students as needed.

Brawerman East Elementary School of Wilshire Boulevard Temple is a Jewish day school (Kindergarten to Grade 6) operating in the Erika J Glazer Campus in Mid-Wilshire, adjacent to the historic Magnin-Leder Sanctuary. Since its opening in 2011, Brawerman East has offered an outstanding academic program rooted in Jewish values that nurtures students' cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual lives. Small by design, Brawerman East is a tight-knit, nurturing community with high faculty collaboration and an active, supportive parent body. The elementary school is part of Wilshire Schools East, which also houses the Glazer Early Childhood Center.
Responsibilities:
- Anchor the teaching of Mathematics in Grades 5 and 6
- Provide curricular and instructional support to high achieving students in Math and other curricular areas
- Oversee development and implementation of Math interventions and supports for students
- Provide cross-curricular differentiation opportunities for students who need a different level of challenge
- Gather and provide resources for teachers to supplement the curriculum and ensure student achievement
- Regularly assess student strengths and needs
- Maintain collaborative relationships with teachers that allow for the exchange of honest feedback and professional growth
- Contribute as member of school’s Instructional Leadership Team to evaluate curriculum effectiveness and to help create school’s professional development plan
- Provide support for Math Night, STEAM Night, or other campus mathematics initiatives
- Head coach Mathletes after school program
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Education, Mathematics or related field and/or teaching credential
- Master’s in Education (preferred)
- Relevant teaching experience from independent, public, private, or charter schools
- Training or experience with Singapore math curriculum (preferred)
- Familiarity with NCTM and Common Core standards
- Ability to create cross-curricular projects and enrichment for high achieving students who need a different kind of academic challenge
- Create opportunities for individualized learning as needed
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Excellent oral, written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Reflective, creative, self-directed, and flexible
- Highest levels of professionalism
Compensation:
- $66,150 to $90,000 based on experience and qualifications
- Salary is based on employment from August through June paid over twelve months
