Graphics Coordinator
LOCATION: Columbus, WI
SUMMARY: The Graphics Coordinator at American Packaging Corporation (APC) plays a crucial role in managing and executing customer graphics projects from inception through to final production approval. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a strong understanding of pre-press and printing processes. The Graphics Coordinator collaborates closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate execution of artwork and graphics-related tasks.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Graphics Manager/Graphics Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the SPOT Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation's efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate. Adhere to all company safety guidelines.
- Establish execution strategies for customer graphics projects, including new product launches, line extensions, redesigns, trials, and cost-savings projects. Follow APC procedures, objectives, timing, and financial commitments in specified systems.
- Attend pre-production meetings with customers and suppliers as needed and schedule internal pre-pro meetings as defined by APC procedures.
- Review and approve artwork for accuracy and compliance with COE, industry, print, and government regulations. Make recommendations for improvement and document/resolve specification deviations.
- Coordinate proof approval processes with customers, separators, print tool suppliers, and internal manufacturing teams through effective written and verbal communication.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Manufacturing, Customer Service, Production Control, Technical, separators, plate vendors, and ink vendors.
- Complete print order specifications, purchase orders, cost estimates, and invoices related to artwork development projects.
- Manage customer press approvals, ensuring compliance with APC requirements and assisting with color adjustments to gain final customer approval.
- Understand & be capable of initiating fingerprint trials with our key suppliers & then interpreting the results.
- Take proactive steps to solve problems and undertake new projects as they arise, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
- Assemble, distribute, and maintain customer approved color standards, providing samples to internal and external customers as required.
- Stay informed about new pre-press graphics technology advancements.
- Attend and participate in all company mandated meetings.
- Limited business travel may be required.

LOCATION: Rochester, NY
SUMMARY: A program designed to train a skilled worker through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction to become a Maintenance Technician at American Packaging Corporation. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for electrical and mechanical systems in the facility, which will include troubleshooting and routine maintenance activities. Throughout this program, they will learn to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems that affect productivity of the manufacturing group as well as plant facilities and subsystems. They will learn to be involved with the process improvements providing input in production problem solving.
Approval Process: Applicants will be interviewed and chosen based on their experience, knowledge, and overall work history. The chosen finalists will be required to take and pass an aptitude test.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Duration: 3-4 years for completion
Classroom Training: Several courses required through local school, such as Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical and Machining courses.
Hours of Work: As needed for class schedule, must be flexible.
On the Job Training:
A. Tool and Supply Room (~200 hrs)
Learn size of wire conduit and bending of conduit, use of tools and how to determine the size of load safety.
B. Lighting (~200 hrs)
Replacement of incandescent lamps and hot cathode fluorescent tubes and starters. Repair of fluorescent fixtures, replacing ballast, socket and wiring, code requirements. Repair of LED fixtures, replacing drivers and troubleshooting.
C. Trouble Shooting AC Wiring (~300 hrs)
Learn to locate and repair contactor problems, replacing contacts and contactor. Locate and replace blown fuses. Check and repair limit switches, push buttons, etc.
D. Special Circuits AC (~500 hrs)
Learn to read wiring diagrams. Operation of special control circuits, time delay switches, electrical braking.
E. Direct Current Machinery (~500 hrs)
Learn to locate and repair direct current motor troubles in fields, armatures, bearings, brush holders, and commutators. Knowledge of variable speed DC drives. Repair and maintenance of DC contactors and field control.
F. General Wiring (~500 hrs)
Learn proper handling and installation of power feeding, wiring, fuse panels, breakers, etc. Estimate load requirements. Code requirements. Install general wiring.
G. Instruments (~100 hrs)
Learn proper use and care of voltmeter, ammeter, watt meter, oscilloscope and megger, etc.
H. Computerized Controls (~600 hrs)
Programmable logic controllers: reading diagrams and schematics; maintaining and troubleshooting.
I. Care, Use and Safety of Tools and Equipment (~500 hrs)
Hand tools, power tools, machines and power equipment, ladders, scaffolding and hoists.
J. Machine Repair (Mechanical) (~1500 hrs)
Assembly and disassembly, bearings, power transmission, construction, rigging, lubrication. Safety.
K. Bench Work and Machinery (~300 hrs)
Lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, drill press, power saw, etc. Safety.
L. Pipefitting (~300 hrs)
Layout, installation, repair, replacement, pumps and compressors, valves and controls. Safety.
M. Welding (~500 hrs)
Protective clothing and equipment, burning and cutting, controls and gauges, electric arc welding, properties of metals. Safety.

SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated Product Development Engineering Intern to support our engineering teams in developing and optimizing flexible packaging solutions. This role provides hands-on experience with material selection, packaging design, testing, and process improvement in a manufacturing environment.

* Qualify new and alternate materials.
* Monitor Quality Assurance system to ensure that current procedures/testing correlate with customer requirements.
* Update system/procedures as required and develop appropriate procedures to complete assigned projects.
* Manage in-plant trials through conducting pre-trial planning meetings, directing on-line manufacture of trial materials, documenting results of trials and ensuring trial results are met.
* Attend and participate in all company mandated meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Participates in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the STOP Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation's efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate.
- Retrieves all necessary set up information/specifications/guidelines and follows instructions on the job jacket.
- Completes all machine changeover/set-up processes minimizing machine downtime and meeting or exceeding set-up standard requirements. Develop set up procedure documentation as required.
- Correctly completes daily production sheets, process condition sheets, waste logs, final release forms, ink paperwork and quality inspection logs. Ensure job order information (size, construction, print position, packing instructions, adhesive structures, proper substrates being used) corresponds with the product being manufactured.
- Safely, efficiently and effectively assists with the assigned production machinery equipment monitoring quality, production and waste adhering to all customer specifications.
- Ensures immediate work area and work areas for which Machine Operator has responsibility are free of clutter and debris. Perform all cleaning/sanitation responsibilities, safely using all required cleaning solutions and protective equipment.
- Removes rolls from rewind, hangs rolls on rewind, makes up doctor blades, preps print carriages, brings correct inks and lacquers to the press, configures ink ratios, disposes of ink, solvents and lacquers, maintains ink viscosities and cuts cores.
- Ability to operate the viscosity control system.
- Ensures all required on-line quality data is properly documented.
- Monitors all quality requirements as outlined by company procedure and specification. Completes necessary sheets for quality checks.
- Actively participates in safety programs and completes required safety observations. Understands and follows plant safety rules.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings (Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.).
- Able to work all scheduled shifts and required overtime hours.
- Trains new employees as necessary.

SUMMARY: Ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of food contact packaging materials is a critical business requirement. The Corporate Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining programs that establish our packaging materials are in compliance with regulations in North America, Europe, and other countries our packaging materials are sold in. By applying technical, organizational and project managerial skills, guidance will be provided to Packaging R&D, Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing teams on packaging regulatory matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, as well as other duties as assigned.
- Own, Develop, and Manage internal processes, governance and systems/databases to efficiently maintain regulatory compliance of packaging materials; both supplier regulatory information and communications to customers.
- Facilitate and implement legal advice into our business regarding food contact material compliance.
- Respond to customer surveys and requests for regulatory information.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure newly developed or revised packaging materials meet regulatory requirements of targeted applications.
- Proactively anticipates potential hurdles and works with sales and technical teams to resolve.
- Keep abreast of key regulatory and consumer developments for packaging materials via workgroups, literature reviews and industry news. Determine business implications, communicate with cross functional stakeholders, and put action plans in place to address.
- Represent APC at conferences and participation in professional association activities including industry workgroups focused on packaging and food safety.
- Provide training and guidance on regulatory requirements for packaging specifications.
- Manage verification testing and maintain requirements to ensure our packaging materials are safe for use as intended.
- Lead the process to ensure that new materials entering our facilities have been evaluated for food safety and that they are safe for their intended use.
- Manage the process for other packaging based regulatory information to include USP, Drug Master File, Sustainable Materials, End of Life Packaging Responsibilities such as EPR and PPWR, and other material certifications.
Organizational Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Director of R&D and Technical Solutions who provides overall strategic direction.
- Manages direct report(s) to ensure objectives are met and the team is responsive to customers and other stakeholders.

- Locate material for the present job and upcoming jobs so that the machine may operate efficiently.
- Sign onto and use recipe program to load process conditions onto the machine and enter all of the necessary process data.
- Properly flag rejects in master rolls accurately for next operation.
- Monitor pumping systems as outlined to maintain proper mix ratio.
- Understand and utilize all appropriate SOP's.
- Aid in mounting impression/transfer sleeves during changeovers.
- Read, understand, interpret and utilize all information received from both the job jackets, Product Specs and Material picking program.
- Perform and manage all necessary cleaning and housekeeping duties including cleaning the laminator, scrubbing all rollers and pumps, changing filters, picking up debris around the machine, end of order clean-up, and in-process machine laminator cleaning.
- Assist in machine set-up's/changeovers by utilizing the information on the job jacket and any necessary equipment. This includes preparing anilox rolls and sleeves for the laminator, changing anilox rolls, etc.
- Complete necessary quality checks at machine and complete check off paperwork.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings (Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.).

Customer Account Specialist
LOCATION: Rochester, NY
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
SUMMARY: To professionally and effectively communicate with customers and respond to customer requests for order placement, delivery of finished goods, quotations and all other inquires or requested information. To service both the external and internal customer by accurately and efficiently processing information by means of systems and procedures.
REPORTS TO: Customer Service Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the SPOT Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation's efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate.
- Verify purchase order information with customers.
- Request customer numbers and specification sheets from the appropriate departments as needed.
- Data entry of information into the AS400/Radius order entry programs (create item numbers, etc.)
- Identify and collect all information required for creating orders.
- Authorize and provide information for invoicing all graphics related preparation, plate, and cylinder costs.
- Follow Up with scheduling until acknowledged have ready date is acquired.
- Distribute order to appropriate departments and send out order acknowledgment to customer.
- Processing all changes to orders when required.
- Create shipping releases in AS400/Radius program, make any needed changes, and track open shipments.
- Track open releases, verify finished goods availability, and notify customer of any quantity deviation.
- Generate account specific reports including but not limited to inventory of finished goods, raw materials, order status as needed.
- If applicable, maintain Vendor Managed Inventory programs through weekly reporting to customer. Some programs also require that the customer account specialist place the orders for the customers under specific guidelines set by them.
- Investigate all customer related inquires. Expedite information to customer, sales representative, and/or manufacturing including, but not limited to the processing of price quotations, samples, brochures, or any other pertinent information necessary in obtaining or maintaining new business.
- Monitor aged inventory and communicate procedures to customers, and APC Sales team to ensure timely pre-billing and/or shipping of aged inventory.
- Professionally and effectively respond to any and all customer complaints through following procedures:
- I. Retrieve required and appropriate information from customer or sales.
- II. Complete and distribute complaint form to appropriate departments, provide photos to APC's Quality department, and request samples from the customer.
- III. Follow up until appropriate disposition of complaint is provided.
- IV. Provide corrective action to customer, ensuring satisfactory resolution.
- Investigate and provide the necessary information to both external and internal customers as may be requested or deemed necessary, which may not be specifically outlined above.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings (Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.).
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Business travel (infrequent) may be required.

Roto/FPL Specific duties:
- Provide graphics department with order information for artwork processing - entering design validation requirements - some customers may have more complexity/requirements due to how frequently they change and the volume

- Understand the bar code system in order to properly scan all raw materials used in production to ensure accurate inventory control. Able to produce new tickets for all finished goods inventory and return to stock unused materials.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. This includes Shop Floor Reports which document production, waste, set up time and downtime and all Quality Assurance tests.
- Successfully set up machine to customer specifications.
- Successfully troubleshoot all mechanical problems and apply corrective action as needed. Make decision to contact the Maintenance Department when appropriate.
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling/greasing machines.
- Safely operate all necessary roll handling equipment to load work in process rolls onto machine.
- Produce pouches within customer specifications while completing all necessary quality testing.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.).

SUMMARY: The Digital Account Manager will meet the goals of APC and its customers. - Active pipeline development, identify key decision-makers and collaborate with business partners to secure opportunities.

- Coordinate activities with Customer Service and Graphics.
- Administer pricing policies to maximize profitability and leverage commercialization tools to request or execute quotes.
- Set sales goals, prepare tailored proposals, and follow up with customers.
- Facilitate product development and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Develop sales plans, complete quarterly/monthly reports, and participate in industry events.
- Qualify leads and provide updates to Sales Leadership.

SUMMARY: Primary responsibility is monitoring and measuring process and product performance, establishing and implementing recommendations for improvements to both product and process, and ensure optimal production of the various products produced by American Packaging.

- Analyze processes and products using statistical techniques, to identify improvement opportunities, and measure process/product performance to ensure continual improvement.
- Participate with the gathering of information needed to establish process conditions for new and developing products and processes. This involves observing trials/developmental orders and production runs, and communicating with the manufacturing, scheduling, sales, graphics, and supplier team members.
- Ownership of CI projects as assigned. Lead projects, provide data and set up projects to achieve CI goals.
- Organize and lead process and product improvement teams/initiatives, using established project management techniques, to improve product quality and process performance and lead the implementation of those improvements.
- Ensure that manufacturing specifications are known, understood, and communicated.
- Provide engineering expertise as needed.
- Analyze production and test data to establish consistent production results.
- Utilize data to recommend design changes to correct/resolve problems and contribute to the optimization of products to the required technological specifications or end uses.
- Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization as required. This will range from hourly production employee up to and including the Operations Director.
- Work schedule must be flexible to allow for attendance at trials/production during nights and/or weekends if necessary.

SCHEDULE: 12 hour shifts rotating day/night schedule
SUMMARY: Identifies and segregates defective material within individual slit rolls. Combines leftover good material into finished rolls and palletizes for shipment to the customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Facilitate on the job training and instruction for team members on the correct use of tools and equipment to ensure proper safety and operating procedures are followed.
- Mounts slit rolls of product onto shaft of machine using lift cart. Removes rolls as well.
- Sets up and makes necessary adjustments to the machine.
- Must be able to identify defects and splice good material together per spec.
- Reads and understands specs of products being run. Must know packaging materials required for palletizing finished product also. Occasionally uses hand tools to prepare packaging materials.
- Completes daily production reports.
- Operates stretch wrap machine to wrap finished pallets.
- Regularly cleans machine and surrounding area.
- Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations. Follows plant safety rules.
