Under the direction and general supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff. The Registered Nurse (RN) who through knowledge and ability utilizes the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family. Incorporates the needs and behaviors of patient's age group in planning and providing care.

Under the direction of a Clinical Nursing Supervisor, provides nursing care in support of the treatment plans. Assists with treatments and procedures and carries out selected interventions within the framework of the care plan. Performs additional duties related to clinic operations including Hyperbaric Chamber Operation with appropriate on-site training and competency.



 



Qualifications

Job Description

The CT/X-ray Multimodality Technologist, under the direction of the Radiologist and Radiology Director/Supervisor, performs all Radiology/CT procedures in accordance with ACR, ARRT, state regulations, and departmental policies. Possesses highly technical skills to operate sophisticated equipment for the above-mentioned examinations. Is able to perform the duties of an ARRT Technologist as required in addition to performing CT duties. The Technologist must exhibit expertise in patient care based on needs appropriate for all patient demographics. Other duties as deemed necessary.


  • Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology.  


  • One year of radiologic experience. 


  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association.


  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)


  • CT Experience is preferred but not required. On the Job training to learn CT available

Summary

Operates cardiac ultrasound equipment and performs high quality cardiac ultrasound imaging (echocardiography) to be used for the diagnostic evaluation of chamber measurements, blood flow characteristics, and cardiac function of the heart.

Job Duties

  • Performs high quality Transthoracic and Stress Echocardiography imaging studies per protocol on adult and geriatric patient population including the knowledge of transducer selection, equipment knobology for optimal image, and the knowledge/ability to perform all measurements, per protocol. Performs the patient meet/greet (confirm ID and order), reviews history and supporting clinical data for optimum diagnostic results, conducts patient prep (explain procedure, answer questions, take BP, apply electrodes), monitors patient wellbeing during test to recognize potential medical problems and takes action, and develops documentation (including Technical Sonographer Report). Provides medication/ IV insertion ( ultrasound enhancement agent, UEA) as needed.
  • Provides fellow colleague/new hire, student, intern and/or Fellow proctoring/training.
  • Participates in echocardiography performance improvement initiatives and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives; adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides and administers competent Hyperbaric Medicine services to patients as prescribed by the Physician. Wound care center operator must be a healthcare professional actively certified or licensed in one of the following vocations to meet the minimum education and experience requirements: (Respiratory Therapist, Military: Corpsman or Medical Services Specialist, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Certified Hyperbaric Specialist, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Hyperbaric Technologist, Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist, Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant, other allied healthcare professions as approved by NBDHMT for certification eligibility, individuals who have successfully completed U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) hyperbaric training.

Successful completion of a certification program in Hyperbaric Medicine is required by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology, Department of Defense, American College of Hyperbaric Medicine, or Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society is required. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card. ACLS preferred. Maintains competencies, continuing education, and certifications as appropriate. One year of experience required. Must have completed approved Hyperbaric Safety Director Course or attend within 6 months of employment.

Job Summary and Qualifications The EP Lab Technician-Certified will function as an integral part of the Cardiac Cath Lab team by participating, implementing, and assisting in the care of patients in the Electrophysiology Laboratory. Demonstrates technical proficiency during all Electrophysiology procedures while functioning in both roles of Electrophysiology Cardiovascular Scrub Technician and Electrophysiology Recorder. As the Recorder, he/she maintains good communication with the patient care team to ensure proper equipment set up, accurate monitoring, and quality data collection.

What you will do in this role:
  • Demonstrate advance technical proficiency for all Electrophysiology procedures while functioning in Cardiovascular Scrub Technician and Electrophysiology Recorder.? This includes but is not limited to the following procedures;?
a) Diagnostic Electrophysiology studies?

b) Interventional electrophysiology, Ablation?

c) Permanent Pacemaker, Implantable cardiac defibrillator,?

d) Biventricular Pacemaker and Defibrillator?

e) Laser Lead Extraction?

f) Vascular Closure devices all of which can occur on an Elective or Emergent basis.?

g) Takes Call on a rotating basis as assigned.
  • Demonstrate advance knowledge to identify cardiac structures, advanced anatomy of all heart chambers coronary vasculature, the physiology behind the dysrythmia's disease processes and assist the physician in either obtaining or entering data into the Electrophysiology Physiologic Monitoring System(s) for accurate assessment. Must verify accurate information is gathered during procedure as well as homodynamic data.?
  • Practices radiation safety and observes all principles to ALARA which includes advance knowledge of all regulations, requirements set forth by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control, the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee and the proper use and storage of personal radiation badge.?
  • Will accurately report life-threatening arrhythmias by demonstrating proficiency in the assessment of Cardiac function, using homodynamic as well as Electrophysiology data. Understands the abnormal physiology or disease process such as; Cardiomyopathy, Myocardial Infarction, Valvular disorders, bypass tracts, WPW and their relationship to the condition.?
  • Assures that Angiographic and procedural data is properly archived for long-term storage and assures the presence of all components of procedure information in both hard copy and computerized formats. 6. Is required to assist and train new staff and existing staff members, in the scrub/recorder arena.


What qualifications you will need:

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

1. Education: ALL of the following:

High School Graduate or G.E.D.

New hires as of 06/01/2013 have to haveONEof the following:

A. Two (2) years full-time Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience

B. An Associate Degree or equivalent college hours (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering, or any primary science or higher.

C. Graduate of an accredited (by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA) program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.

D. Graduate of a NON-programmatically accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology which has a minimum of one (1) year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours.

3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

4. Preferred: One (1) year fulltime or fulltime equivalent in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology preferred. 5. Baccalaureate in health, science, natural science or nursing, engineering or any primary science AND six (6) months of fulltime or fulltime equivalent in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology preferred.

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

A. New hires must have ONE of the below-listed certifications:
  • RCIS (Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist) from CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International)
  • RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist)
