A growing orthopedic and spine practice is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assist to join their high performing surgical team.

Due to continued growth and expanding surgical volume, we are adding a dedicated First Assist to support our orthopedic and spine surgeons in the operating room.

This is a surgery only position with no clinic responsibilities.

Case Mix

You will assist in a wide variety of orthopedic and spine procedures, including:

• Total knee and total hip replacements
• Bipolar hips
• Pinning procedures
• ORIF cases
• Tendon repairs
• Knee arthroscopies
• Hand and wrist procedures including carpal tunnel and De Quervain’s
• Total shoulders
• Rotator cuff repairs
• Spine procedures

This is a high volume environment with a diverse and complex case mix.

Schedule

• 4x10 hour shifts or 3x12 hour shifts

Responsibilities

• Provide direct intraoperative assistance to orthopedic and spine surgeons
• Maintain sterile field and ensure patient safety throughout the procedure

This position works with the Superintendent and Project Manager to administer, direct, and implement compliance with Berkel corporate safety policy and to ensure the achievement of company standard operating practices and safety planning goals. Our Field Safety Specialists are responsible for overall safety procedures on multiple project sites within their regional sectors.

Responsibilities:

• Create, communicate, enforce, and identify opportunities for improvements in Site Specific Safety Program
• Maintain all administrative tasks related to project specific safety binders and filing systems
• Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate all subcontractors pre-construction safety planning meetings, acting as a resource for field operations with compliance on federal (OSHA) and state as well as local safety and health regulations including NFPA and JCAHO standards
