Overview:
The Nurse Tech role is designed for current nursing students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing. As a Nurse Tech, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Mercy nurses to gain real life experience on a hospital unit while still in nursing school!
Job Duties:
- Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records system
- Assist with patient care needs including, meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.
- Phlebotomy/blood cultures
- Enteral Feeding
- Wound care
- IV/Foley removal
- Trach care/suctioning
- Culture collection
- Ostomy application and care
- Wound vacs
- NG tube management and removal
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. and enrolled in a board-certified nursing
program.
Prior to employment, the Nurse Tech shall provide student transcripts indicating
they have completed Fundamentals of Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
and provide competency skills list from their learning institution.
The Nurse Tech must remain in good standing with their school of nursing while in
this role. This program is for nursing students only, if a student leaves a program for
any reason, they can no longer be a nurse tech.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: None required
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform

- Friday Days Radiation Therapy Technologist Overview : Perform simulations, brachytherapy procedures and deliver radiation therapy treatment to patients as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, maintaining accurate records of treatments.
Qualifications : Education: Graduate of an approved program in radiation therapy.
Certifications: Registration in radiation therapy by the ARRT or registry eligible.
Current BLS before assigned to care for patients independently.
If registry eligible, must attempt registry within two months of employment and pass before six months post hiring date.
All staff therapists shall submit a copy of their registry renewal prior to expiration date annually.
