Job Summary:
The Associate Manufacturing Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining highly automated and advanced manufacturing equipment necessary for the production of the company’s signature product. This role involves equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance while ensuring product quality performance. The individual will be trained and cross-trained across multiple manufacturing technologies and must be capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment under minimal supervision. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and adherence to safety, quality, and GMP standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform equipment setup, operation, repair, and basic daily/weekly preventative maintenance tasks under minimal supervision
- Maintain machine raw material feeds, clear faults, and resolve stoppages on automated equipment
- Utilize human machine interfaces (HMIs) to identify and correct shifts in process control
- Ensure adequate raw materials are prepared correctly and jobs are run in a timely manner to meet on-time delivery
- Execute equipment inspections and generate emergency, corrective, and preventative work orders as needed
- Troubleshoot and identify potential solutions for mechanical errors, safety issues, and operating inefficiencies
- Use computer systems to support material inventory and quality management processes
- Participate in new product design transfer, process development, equipment validations, and process validations
- Investigate and resolve process issues within assigned equipment cells
- Perform routine cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of machinery
- Perform maintenance of measuring and monitoring devices
- Use measuring tools to ensure correct tolerances
- Work from specifications, work orders, and general instructions from Production Supervisor or Team Lead
- Follow standard operating procedures, GMPs, material handling, record keeping, packaging, and shipment preparation requirements
- Notify Team Leader or Production Supervisor of discrepancies to maintain quality and safety standards
- Work independently and in small groups or cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions
- Maintain a clean work environment suitable for medical device manufacturing and cleanroom production
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or at least 3 years of on-the-job manufacturing experience
- Proficiency in English for reading documentation, communication, and writing
- Mathematical skills including basic arithmetic, algebra, and/or geometry
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to troubleshoot machines and identify process issues
- Knowledge of automated machines and tools including their use, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge of raw materials, measurement instruments, production processes, and quality control
- Problem-solving skills and understanding of root cause analysis concepts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking manufacturing environment

Minimum Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electronics, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3 to 7 plus years in SMT/PCB electronics manufacturing
- 1 to 3 plus years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read PCB drawings, BOMs and work instructions.

Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing daily SMT production operations, ensuring efficient workflow, product quality, equipment performance, and adherence to safety and manufacturing standards. This role supervises SMT technicians and operators while driving continuous improvement in productivity, yield, and process reliability.
• Supervise day-to-day SMT manufacturing activities (screen printing, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, SPI).
• Ensure production schedules are met on time and within quality standards.
• Monitor line performance, throughput, and downtime.
• Coordinate job changeovers and line setups.
• Lead, coach, and train SMT operators and technicians.
• Assign work, manage staffing levels, and approve timecards/overtime.
• Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions when required.
• Promote teamwork and a culture of accountability.
• Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
• Partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve defects and yield issues.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCA/CAPA).
• Monitor solder paste quality, placement accuracy, and reflow profiles.
• Oversee SMT equipment operation: printers, placement machines, reflow ovens, conveyors, AOI.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibrations.
• Escalate equipment failures and support troubleshooting.
