Salary and Duty Location Recruitment Incentives and Benefits

Annual Base Salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies as follows:
GS-9: $61,111 - $124,443 per year

Note: A fully trained CBPO is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary.

Officers are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.

LOCATION INCENTIVES: If you accept one of the duty locations listed below, you may be eligible to receive an additional 15%-25% of your salary each year for the first three (3) years of employment in addition to any overtime pay. Some locations may offer 25% for four (4) years.

Duty locations offering 25% recruitment incentives: Otay Mesa, San Francisco, San Ysidro, and Tecate, CA; Key West, FL; etc.

Duty locations offering 15% recruitment incentives: Honolulu, HI; Portal, ND; etc.

Duty location offering 10% recruitment incentives: Calexico, CA

Qualifications:

You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.

Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:

• Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
• Enforcing laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping.
• Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats.
• Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity.

Education Substitution: A master's (or higher) degree or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university; OR

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of specialized experience AND successfully completed graduate-level education.

Other Requirements:

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Residency: Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
• Age Restriction: Must be referred before your 40th birthday (some exceptions apply).
• Veterans Preference: Eligible veterans may qualify for excepted service appointment.

Formal Training: Includes two-week orientation and 101-day academy at FLETC in Glynco, GA. Spanish training may be required for certain locations.

Primary Duties: 

• Operates and documents all aspects of Ultrasound. Verify procedure for appropriateness and preparation has been performed. Provides patient information which includes LMP point of tenderness, symptoms, allergies, or other information pertinent to the exam being performed. Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Practice aseptic techniques, as necessary. Immobilizes patients as required. Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Selects and operates imaging equipment, and or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures. Monitors patient during procedure. Responsible for following established procedures and protocols and producing accurate results. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and image labeling. Initiates basic life support action when necessary. Checks and orders supplies as needed. Participates in data collection for department’s quality assessment and improvement plan. May be responsible for specific quality control duties in assigned areas. Reports equipment failure/problems in a timely manner to supervisor/ lead person. Assists in training and education of employees, physicians, students and/or other healthcare professionals. Provides input for purchase of new equipment and supply decisions Provides input for hire or new employee through peer interview process. May be responsible or assist in control of inventory and purchasing of supplies for assigned area. Provides patient education as needed. Maintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions. 

• Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedure. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and procedure table before and after each procedure. Restocks and requests room supplies that need to be replenished. Take appropriate action in case of fire or other emergency situations to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. 

• Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identifies learning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs. Attends continuing education programs to maintain certification. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allotted time for completion. 

• Works effectively within and between departments. Participates on inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate. Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. • Responsible for following all protocols to ensure optimum image quality. Transport stable unmonitored ED (Emergency Department) patients to and from Ultrasound procedures. Transport stable unmonitored IP as available and needed Assist licensed practitioners with Ultrasound guided interventional procedures. Assist Medical Imaging front desk in answering phones, signing out images via films or CD, processing paperwork and scheduling procedures as needed. 

Qualifications:  

• Completion of an accredited program for Ultrasound Sonographers. 

• RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer). 

• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). 

• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Primary Duties:

• Performs CAT Scan Radiology studies. Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns. Performs CT techniques and examinations, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, obstetrics and gynecology scans, radiation therapy localization for treatment planning, and minor surgical procedures. 

• Performs IV Access and contrast injections per departmental policy. 

• Requests and will order supplies as necessary to always keep materials on hand. 

• Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered. Ensures quality images. Selects and operates equipment as directed. 

• Transports patients to CAT Scan room; prepares and maintains room for daily activities. Where applicable, refer to the competency validation documents for population(s) served.

Qualifications:

• Training in computer-assisted tomography.

• CT experience or completion of a certified CT program.

• ARRT or NMTCB license with required paperwork to perform diagnostic CTs on file with the state.

• Basic Life Support (BLS).

• Associate’s degree preferred.
