Job Summary:
The attorney will provide litigation advocacy, advisory, consultation, and negotiation services to client facilities primarily within VA Office of General Counsel (OGC) North Atlantic District. The primary focus will be on defensive employment and labor litigation. Additionally, the attorney will represent VA in psychiatric commitment hearings in state courts. The role also involves advising and counseling clients on healthcare matters, compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and VA policies. Duties:
The primary responsibilities include representing and advising the Department of Veterans Affairs on personnel issues and litigation before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA), as well as handling arbitrations under collective bargaining agreements, disciplinary appeals conducted under 38 U.S.C. §§ 7461-7464, and VA grievance procedures. The attorney will also represent VA at psychiatric commitment hearings and provide legal advice to VA officials regarding matters impacting VA operations and mission. The incumbent's guidance will be based on accurate application of Federal laws and regulations, State laws, and VA policies, directives, and handbooks, considering the implications for Veterans, the public, and the overall mission of VA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Consulting, Review Support & Project Management Responsibilities
Investigate and develop a substantive understanding of assigned matters.
Complete document review projects including quality checks, fact-development support, privilege review and logging.
Summarize review progress and substantive findings in document sets including alerting merits counsel to key evidence, detecting deficiencies in collections and productions and highlighting relevant facts in support of investigations, preparation of witness kits and other projects as assigned and supervised by firm attorneys.

Contribute to departmental publications, presentations and documentation creation. Train, QC and update case teams and department as required.
Technical Responsibilities
Provide hands-on support in Relativity and other litigation technology toolsets for a variety of requests, including: advanced search design, implementation and validation; creation and support of document review batching and production workflows; privilege log design and management.
Perform final quality control and assurance on deliverables to case teams, clients and third parties.
Consult with case team members on the use of customized litigation support apps and tools.
Qualifications & Requirements
A successful Discovery Advisor will have a strong combination of the following consulting, review support project management and technical experience, capabilities and knowledge.
Consulting, Review Support & Project Management Required
Thorough knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and eDiscovery processes.
A minimum of 7 years of experience supporting the design and management of complex document review projects including management of contract attorneys, use of analytics, review and reporting of key performance and progress metrics.

The Opportunity
The Associate Life Solutions Specialist helps to ensure the financial security of our membership by assessing member life insurance needs, providing advice and / or referrals for advice, and making the appropriate recommendations based on members’ individual needs and goals. May provide support to Health Solutions acquisition and retention based on member demand.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 5 days per week, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule after 6 months. This position will be based at the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Colorado Springs, CO Campus. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
Receives request for advice from current and prospective members through various channels, including inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, faxes and video telephony. Special Acquisitions Team employees will primarily place outbound calls triggered from underwriting work items. Life Regulatory team employees respond to specific regulatory/business needs as directed by policies and procedures.
Asks questions to discover key information, including life events, and to understand member needs. Documents relevant information. Life Regulatory team employees ask specific questions, often scripted, as needed to complete regulatory requirements and document relevant information.
Assesses member financial situation and goals. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.
Develops and communicates appropriate life insurance strategies based on individual member needs. Provides basic protection advice and strategies. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.
Recommends relevant life insurance product and solutions and refers members who may need financial advice to the respective department. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.
Motivates member to take action on recommendation(s) and resolves objections using basic sales techniques and developing persuasion skills. Implements recommendation(s).
Monitors legislative initiatives that may impact economy, society, and personal financial situation.
Educates membership on implications of economic, industry trends, and tax law changes, as well as USAA's products and services.
May conduct outbound follow-up calls to complete member acquisition of products and services previously discussed.
Work Hours:
Monday – Friday / 7:30am – 8:00pm (Central)
An 8 hour shift will fall within these hours
This role is required to be in office, with potential hybrid opportunity after 6 months.
What you have:
High School diploma or GED
Required maintenance of Life/Health license and/or acquisition within 90 days
Required annual completion of AHIP and Broker/Carrier appointments when applicable.
Up to 1 year of financial industry and/or life sales experience
Experience delivering frequent written and oral communication
Experience acquiring and applying new concepts and information
Experience processing and analyzing information
Experience fulfilling requests and meeting deadlines
Experience resolving conflict and negotiating
Experience multi-tasking in an operating systems environment
Experience participating in a team environment
Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required
What sets you apart:
Active Group 1 Life and Health license
1+ yrs experience working in Sales with life insurance or financial services products
1+ yrs experience working in a call center environment
CLU® - Chartered Life Underwriter or comparable designation
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $45,470.00 - $79,110.00.

Experienced analyst responsible for independently applying actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects and serves as a technical subject matter expert on assigned tasks.

Independently applies actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects (e.g.)
Builds tools to test and implement new methodologies that improve accuracy of actuarial analysis; utilizes model results to select new variables and refresh existing variables in a rating algorithm; analyzes results from multiple methodologies to propose reserve selections and documenting rationale).
Identifies and improves existing processes utilizing actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques.
Proactively resolves technical issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.

What you have:
Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
2 years of actuarial or analytical business experience.
3 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams.
Experience with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making.
Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, R, SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect technical insights to business problems.
What sets you apart:
Familiarity with Excel and at least one programming language or modeling software package (Python, SQL, R, SAS, etc.).
Demonstrated experience with basic actuarial pricing methodologies.
Demonstrated experience aggregating and analyzing data to solve problems.

P&C Personal Lines pricing experience.
Familiarity and experience with industry pricing software such as Earnix.
