We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Emergency Medicine Physician for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in Texas, starting Jan 1, 2026. This opportunity features rotating shifts with a mix of day, evening, and overnight coverage in a Trauma Center with a robust specialty backup team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide emergency medical care for a facility with an annual ED volume of 35,000 visits
  • Manage patient flow in 17 ED beds (10 urgent, 7 fast track), including a chest pain center
  • Collaborate closely with specialty backup in OB, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Radiology, Pathology, Urology, Pulmonology, and Hospitalists
  • Deliver care in a Trauma Center setting
  • Maintain compliance with all documentation and clinical protocols
  • Participate in trauma care and meet annual trauma CME requirements


Additional Information

  • Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine (ABMS or ABPS) required
  • Completion of Emergency Medicine residency
  • Current Texas medical license and DEA required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NRP certifications required
  • ATLS certification required if not board-certified in Emergency Medicine
  • Annual trauma CME requirement (9 hours)
  • Compliance with all credentialing, immunization (flu shot, TB test), and background check requirements

Pathways, Training & Advancement Recruit Training followed by Hospital Corpsman A School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; numerous advanced C schools that lead to Navy Enlisted Classifications in areas such as Independent Duty Corpsman, Fleet Marine Force, preventive medicine, surgical technology, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, dental, and dive medicine; progressive professional development through leadership courses and warfare qualifications such as Fleet Marine Force and Surface, Aviation, or Expeditionary pins where applicable.

Direct enlistment into the Hospital Corpsman rating from civilian life; in service conversion for qualified Sailors from other ratings who meet screening and performance criteria; Reserve accession for prior service Hospital Corpsmen and select civilian medical professionals when manning needs allow.
