Duties and Responsibilities
As a BPA, you help protect the U.S. by securing borders, stopping illegal activity, and supporting economic stability.
Typical assignments include:
- Questioning individuals and inspecting documents and property
- Apprehending undocumented individuals or smugglers using covert surveillance and infrared scopes
- Tracking and interpreting signs of illegal entry
- Performing farm, traffic, building, city, and transport checks
- Patrolling using vehicles, horses, boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, or motorcycles
Qualifications
GL-9: One year of specialized experience at the next lower level, including:
- Searching detained persons, vehicles, and surroundings
- Apprehending or restraining suspects in violation of law
- Using firearms, writing reports, serving warrants, and gathering case evidence
GS-11: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, including:
- Using intelligence to monitor criminal threats and operations
- Leading fraud or contraband investigations
- Apprehending violators using surveillance and detection tech
There is no education substitution for GL-9 or GS-11 positions.

The Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital is located on our 5th floor and accommodates 34 residents. Our facility serves a diverse range of patients, spanning from middle-aged adults to geriatric residents. We maintain a balance between long-term care and subacute care, striving for a ratio of 14 short-stay patients to 20 long-term residents. Our short-stay patients typically stay with us for 1 to 6 weeks on average, receiving specialized care for conditions such as sepsis, post-orthopedic surgery recovery, and wound care. For our subacute population, we provide a spectrum of skilled nursing and therapy services, including wound care with advanced techniques like wound vacuums, antibiotic therapy, and comprehensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Our long-term residents exhibit a wide range of needs, from those requiring minimal assistance with daily activities to others who rely completely on our care and support. 1. Two Medical/Surgical Units - 2 South Unit -has forty-two patient beds and 2 North Unit has nine patient beds.
2. Intensive Care Unit - Fourteen patient beds.
3. Women and Children's Unit - Four labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum suites with labor tubs, six additional inpatient rooms, three observation rooms and a fully equipped Operating Room.
4. Emergency Department - Twenty-four patient beds that provides care for an average of 80 patients per day.
Experience: Preferably one year of hospital experience and two years of nursing experience.
On-call: Not required.
Incentives: $10, 000 (pro-rated for part-time) signing bonus for full-time positions. $6.00/hr. resource differential. $3.00/hr. evening differential, $6.50/hr. night differential and $3.50/hr. weekend differential. $3.00/hr. charge role differential. $2.00/hr. preceptor differential. 1.5 times regular pay for holidays. After six months (full time and part time employees) are eligible for tuition assistance up to $3,500. Additional terms and conditions apply.
