The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation of accurate, strategic, and competitive electrical estimates for complex mission-critical and data center projects. This role serves as a senior technical resource within preconstruction, overseeing all phases of estimating from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission and project handoff.

This position offers a unique opportunity to not only perform high-level estimating work, but also to help build and shape the company’s Preconstruction function. The Senior Estimator will play a foundational role in developing processes, mentoring and training future team members, and growing into a broader leadership position as the department expands.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in electrical systems for critical facilities, extensive experience in fast-paced bid environments, strong leadership capabilities, and the vision to help establish a scalable, high-performing preconstruction team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the preparation of detailed electrical estimates for mission-critical and data center projects, including material, labor, equipment, subcontracted scopes, and indirect costs.
  • Manage the estimating process from conceptual budgeting through final proposal submission.
  • Perform and oversee quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and addenda.
  • Analyze project documents to identify scope gaps, constructability issues, scheduling risks, and cost drivers.

  • Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor proposals; negotiate pricing and scope alignment.
  • Coordinate closely with suppliers on pricing, lead times, procurement risks, and alternate solutions.
  • Incorporate market trends, labor productivity, escalation, and supply chain conditions into estimates.
  • Lead value engineering efforts and develop cost-saving alternatives while maintaining project requirements.
  • Prepare executive-level estimate summaries, clarifications, and proposal narratives.
  • Facilitate internal bid reviews and present estimate strategy to leadership.
  • Lead handoff meetings with project management teams upon award to ensure continuity from preconstruction to execution.
  • Mentor and support junior estimators, reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and enhance historical cost databases, benchmarking tools, and estimating standards.
  • Develop and implement scalable estimating processes, templates, and best practices to support future team growth.
  • Partner with leadership to build and structure the Preconstruction department, including tools, workflows, and staffing plans.
  • Ensure estimates align with construction means, methods, schedule constraints, and field execution strategies.
  • Stay current on electrical codes, technologies, materials, labor trends, and mission-critical industry standards.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, industry events, and relationship-building with partners and suppliers.

What You Bring

  • Proven ability to lead estimates for large, complex, or fast-track projects.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring others or contributing to team development.

  • Deep understanding of commercial and mission-critical electrical systems.
  • Expertise in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Experience with conceptual, design-build, and negotiated estimating.
  • Ability to assess constructability, schedule impacts, and execution risks.
