PRACTICE SPECIFICS

• Comprehensive, general adult PM&R practice including physiatric consultation and management for neurologic, limb loss and spine conditions.
• Majority outpatient practice with rotation on the inpatient rehab service. Approximately 1:10 call.
• Work collaboratively with Neurosurgery, Occupational Medicine, Interventional Pain in the management of patients with acute and chronic spine conditions. Collaboration with General and Interventional Neurology and Neurosurgery in the management of patients with neurologic conditions.
• Actively involved with the maintenance of a comprehensive spine program within the Essentia Health System
• Participation in regular spine management conferences: peer colleague case reviews
• Practice could include electrodiagnostic studies
• Additional procedural opportunities may include botulinum toxin injections, baclofen pump management.
• Outpatient therapy access to therapists who sub-specialize in neuro, pediatric and musculoskeletal conditions.

Essentia Health offers a 1-year fellowship for Family Medicine physicians who desire advanced training in Obstetrics subsequent to medical practice in rural locations.

• Six Months of training will be dedicated to management if routine and high-risk obstetrics, developing competence inoperative deliveries and Cesarean section, and expanding skills in ultrasound, newborn resuscitation/stabilization, and colposcopy.
• Curriculum consists of: 24 weeks obstetrics, 12 weeks outpatient primary care, 8 weeks emergency medicine/trauma/critical care and 4 weeks electives.
• The fellow will also participate in education of University of Minnesota medical students and Duluth Family Medicine residents.

Our Gastroenterology section is seeking an Advanced Endoscopist as part of a planned expansion. Expertise in bariatric endoscopy and/or ESD are preferred. Our section serves a 357-bed tertiary referral center with opportunities for outreach into surrounding communities. The facility features an outpatient endoscopy unit and side by side clinic with 8 endoscopy suites. An IM hospitalist service manages all GI admissions and GI functions as a consultative service. Eleven NPs/PAs and six General GI Physicians support outpatient management of IBS, IBD and liver disease and the inpatient GI consultation service. This position can accommodate subspecialty interests and provides a 1: 3 call schedule.

• Our current group of seven physicians includes 6 general and one advanced endoscopy Gastroenterologist working in a 100% consultative practice.
• Currently offered procedures include ERCP, SpyGlass Cholangioscopy, EUS (diagnostic and therapeutic), RFA, cryotherapy, EMR and enteral stenting.
• Latest model Olympus endoscopes, EUS processors, and Omega fixed table fluoroscopy unit.
• State-of-the-art Digestive Health Center performing a full spectrum of endoscopy procedures
• New hospital opened July 2023
• All GI hospital admissions are managed by IM hospitalist service

Licensure/Certification Qualifications: Nephrologist - Casual

Duluth, MN

• Join a long-term, low turnover team of 5 Nephrologists
• Full scope of Nephrology practice

• Clinical Nephrology, hypertension and post-transplant care
• Hospital practice includes ICU and acute dialysis services as well as apheresis

• Dialysis population of around 300 patients with 2 units in Duluth (18 & 22 stations) and 7 satellite locations (some have home dialysis); includes home hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement, CAPD and CCPD
• Physicians serve as Medical Director at the dialysis locations
• Inpatient care at SMDC Medical Center and St. Mary's Medical Center, a combined 500 bed tertiary care hospital complex
• Nephrology is a consultative service; hospitalists are the admitting service. 
• Team Members include RNs, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners
• Essentia Health East market includes almost 1,000 physicians and advance practice clinicians with all medical and surgical specialties represented

  • Outpatient Endoscopy Center

• Busy surgical schedule that includes all but transplants and pediatric hearts
