The Staff RN in the Day Surgery/Infusion Center – IV/PICC Team provides care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This role focuses on PICC line insertion, maintenance, and related IV therapy procedures.

What you will do in this role:

• Responsible for PICC line and mid insertion, monitoring, declotting, and discontinuation.
• Administers intravenous infusions and injections.
• Provides patient and family education regarding PICC lines and central lines.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and supports the hospital's mission.
• Responsible for PICC line insertion; assists staff with monitoring PICC lines, declotting, and discontinuing catheters with or without catheter tip cultures.
• Assists with difficult IV insertions.
• Responsible for routine dressing changes on Central Lines.
• Responsible for patient/family education regarding PICC line insertion and dressing changes for Central Lines.
• Assists Clinical Educator(s) in providing education to staff as necessary.
• Keeps current on advances in IV therapy and line insertion.
• Administers intravenous infusions and injections, based on doctor orders, on selected patients including but not limited to: antibiotics, iron infusions, steroids, Remicaide, blood and blood products, Rhogam, Procrit, and Neupogen.
• Carries out or assists ancillary services with diagnostic procedures such as Cortisone Stimulation Testing, ACTH, R-Gene 10 test, Tensilon testing, and/or Therapeutic Phlebotomy.
• Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment of assigned unit.
• Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.
• Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital.
• Responsible for orientation of new personnel as delegated by the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or Director.
• Maintains clinical knowledge of Core Measure requirements inherent to position. Documents patient assessment, patient education, and patient care activities in the medical record by using terminology that complies with the current Core Measure data definition version. Communicates in a timely manner with other clinicians to achieve Core Measure compliance.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other clinical disciplines in making decisions regarding each patient's nursing care needs.

• Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your schedule

• You will evaluate patients prior to surgery 
• You will provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• You will assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification 
• You will participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy 
• You will recognize and respond to patient emergencies 
• You will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives 
• You will be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more 
• You will consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
• You will assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly

• Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care and  by promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• BSN

• PA RN License

• BLS - issued by the American Heart Association

• ACLS - issued by the American Heart Association

2-3 years of clinical nursing experience required, preferably in ICU or Stepdown     Prior vascular access experience preferred

TIER III - 96 hour minimum commitment per 4 week schedule

3 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule

1 winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

Weekly (per hour):

Holiday: 1 ½ times the hourly shift rate

1 spring/summer holiday (Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day)

POSITION PURPOSE:

A therapist/service coordinator within a community treatment team plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health concerns within their community. requires a combination of clinical expertise, organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting individuals with mental health concerns in achieving their recovery goals within the context of their community.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Therapeutic Services: Providing individual and group therapy sessions to clients, utilizing evidence-based approaches to address their mental health needs. This may involve conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions to promote recovery and well-being.

Case Management: Coordinating care and services for clients, collaborating with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals. This involves monitoring clients' progress, advocating for their needs, and ensuring continuity of care.

Crisis Intervention: Responding to crises and emergencies as they arise, providing immediate support and assistance to clients in distress, and facilitating appropriate interventions to ensure their safety and stabilization.

Resource Coordination: Assisting clients in accessing community resources and support services, such as housing assistance, employment programs, substance abuse treatment, and social support networks. This may involve providing information, referrals, and assistance with applications and paperwork.

Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborating with external agencies, organizations, and community partners to enhance the availability and effectiveness of mental health services in the community. This includes participating in case conferences, consultations, and interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and address complex client needs.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. This may also involve preparing reports, summaries, and statistical data as required.

Advocacy and Education: Advocating for the rights and interests of clients within the community and promoting awareness and understanding of mental health issues through education and outreach activities. This may include conducting workshops, presentations, and training sessions for clients, families, and community stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS;

• Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation, activity therapies, counseling or education and 1 year of paid professional behavioral health experience.
• Act 33/34/73 clearances.
• Pre-employment Drug Screen
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to drive an organization vehicle
• Access to Transportation
• LPC/LCSW licensure preferred, but not required.

POSITION HIGHIGHTS/BENEFITS

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an Exempt (salary) position.   Monday through Friday 9:00 am until 5:00 pm with flexibility to meet consumers’ needs. Nontraditional hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be required.  Will provide on-call services on a rotating basis ($50 flat rate daily)
