What weβre looking for: Our Portland office is seeking to hire a Litigation Associate to support our growing clientele. We are looking for energetic, driven, detail-oriented people for this on-site position.
Our cases are complex, frequently involving dozens of defendants. We often achieve multi-million dollar recoveries for our clients. Because of our complex litigation and commitment to our clients, our firm is 100% on site. This allows for a collaborative, open-door environment where we can work together to effectively represent and advocate for our clients.
As an associate, you will learn all aspects of asbestos litigation. The successful candidate should be a quick study as you will need to become familiar with various sources of asbestos exposure and the basic medical terminology associated with mesothelioma. You will be responsible for case investigation, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, document review, drafting and arguing motions, and preparing cases for trial. The successful candidate will serve as a second or third chair during trials with the potential to first chair trials after gaining sufficient experience.
Our work involves a lot client contact, which brings us into the lives of families going through the most stressful time of their lives. Empathy and the ability to build rapport with people from varied backgrounds are keys to success in this position.
Qualifications:
Β· J.D. from ABA accredited institution and admission to Missouri bar, or eligibility for reciprocity (Illinois admission is a bonus);
Β· Strong academic record;
Β· Excellent legal research and writing abilities;

Β· Willingness to travel (30-40% travel on average) to client's homes and other relevant locations frequently for multiple nights;

Legal Investigator
What Weβre Looking For:
Our Portland office is hiring a Legal Investigator to support our Litigation Teams. This is a dynamic, on-site role ideal for someone energetic, compassionate, and detail-oriented. Youβll be responsible for interviewing clients and witnesses, drafting documents, assisting with trials, and conducting field investigations. A valid driverβs license and ability to rent and drive a car are essential, as this role involves extensive travel, often with short notice and overnight stays.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Interview clients about their work history and potential asbestos exposure
- Locate and interview witnesses
- Investigate work history and job sites to determine product exposure and correlation to job duties
- Conduct extensive research and draft memoranda
- Attend document reviews and identify relevant documents
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness scheduling and jury selection
- Travel frequently to the homes of clients and witnesses, often for multiple nights
Experience Preferred:
- Hands-on experience in asbestos abatement, construction, automotive, industrial, military, or other trades where asbestos or hazardous materials were prevalent

We are seeking a legal assistant with 2 or more years of litigation experience who enjoys working closely with attorneys and supporting clients in a comfortable and friendly work atmosphere. Attorney and client support includes:
- Initiate conflicts checks and open new client matters
- Docket and maintain case calendars
- Review court rules to ensure compliance with court format and efiling requirements
- Monitor case schedules and ensure attorneys are current with impending deadlines
- Draft, proofread, format, and edit pleadings, correspondence, and client documents
- E-file in federal, Washington state, and some Oregon state court jurisdictions
