Pediatric Dermatologist

Assistant/Associate/Professor of Dermatology

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Temple, TX, is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric Dermatologist to join our Department of Dermatology. 

BSW Temple is an academic referral center in central Texas which trains medical students and residents. As of July

2022, there will be 11 residents and 13 faculty, including one Pediatric Dermatologist. A Dermatopathology

Fellowship is offered through the Pathology department. We are currently affiliated with Texas A&M College of Medicine and will transition to Baylor College of Medicine with the establishment of a new Temple BCM campus starting in 2023. 

Primary responsibilities are patient care and teaching. Patient care will occur in Pediatric Dermatology outpatient clinics within the Dermatology free-standing clinic and shared call coverage for inpatient consultations at McLane Children’s Hospital. The hospital features 112 patient beds and a 24-hour, level II pediatric emergency department. A level IV, forty-eight bed Neonatal ICU is located nearby on the main BSW Memorial Hospital campus. Opportunities to perform basic dermatologic surgery and laser surgery are available. 

The position will involve a significant educational component via bedside, formal and informal teaching of learners including Dermatology residents, rotating Pediatric residents, and medical students. Clinical or educational scholarship is encouraged.

Requirements

Board certification in Dermatology and Board certification/eligibility in Pediatric Dermatology by the time of appointment. 

The ability to diagnose and manage complex pediatric dermatology outpatients and inpatients including those with inflammatory, vascular, infectious, pigmentary, genetic, congenital, and acquired diseases is mandatory.

Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologist

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a fellowship trained, board certified/board eligible, Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologist for our Advanced Heart Failure Transplant team for the Greater Austin Region. Our heart failure services, including heart transplant/ventricular assist devices, ECMO, and an interdisciplinary shock team are growing. 

You will join a team of 9 advanced heart failure specialists. Our team currently supports approximately 50 heart replacements annually and has a focus on quality and longitudinal well-being for our patients. The advanced heart failure team supports the Central Texas Region and is part of a team including robust structural, surgical, imaging and imaging team members.

The position is dedicated for expanding our advanced heart failure services for BSWH in the Greater Austin Region, focused on inpatient and outpatient services in Lakeway and Round Rock hospitals.

The candidate will have predominant inpatient service responsibilities related to the VAD/HTx program with an expected inpatient rounding, VAD/HTx clinic and the option of being part of the ECHO rotation for VAD/HTx. Right side procedures (RHC, Implantable PA monitor and endomyocardial biopsies) will be available to be performed in Lakeway.

Duties include inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultation service. Additional responsibilities may include ACGME education of Cardiology Fellows and rotating service on the inpatient cardiac transplant service at BSWH Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, 

  Qualifications

• Must be UNOS qualified for the care of patients with cardiac transplants.
• An interest in education and research is encouraged, but not essential.
• Provide coverage for Transplant, inpatient and outpatient services.
• Predominant amount of time in Lakeway.
• Expected call 1:4 in Round Rock location
• Expected call 6 weeks a year in Temple location
• Dedicated HF nurses and APP once a week with plans for expansion.
• Opportunity to perform Cath lab procedures (i.e. right heart catheterization, implantable pulmonary artery monitors) and read ECHO for VAD and Heart Transplant
